Well… I guess there’s one thing I have in common with Russia.
So that means we can interpret this as “WhatsApp messages encryption so good, that even the Russian government can’t decrypt it”?
(Meanwhile in the us if someone follows the default settings of saving the chat history on Google drive, it’s easy to get)
Or, Meta passes data to US gov but not Russian gov.
There’s a reason if they push so hard in letting you enable the unencrypted backup on Google drive
If you disable it, every once in a while they will ask you to enable with a full screen dialog. I can see many people giving up and enabling it just to let it shut up
It uses the Signal protocol, so it’s been known that its encryption is good, which is why even Snowden saw it as more secure than Telegram.
Telegram isn’t particularly secure. Its not end to end encrypted by default.
