I believe in a society where all are cared for, but did we really just legislate another subsidy for boomers? They’re the richest demographic in Canada. What about housing for families? The Boomers are the ones that created this fucking mess. Just squeeze us more. I’d be more sympathetic if I hadn’t actually had multiple boomers complain to me because they can’t age out in their 5 bedroom homes on their acreages. The fuck? You made housing an investment and made a mint on it, sell your investment! Oh, it’s a ‘home’ now? My family of 6 is in a two bedroom derelict shack because 3% was apparently the cost of living increase, while housing has doubled in 5 years and food.

I probably haven’t been too nuanced here because I was raging before I could finish the article.

My experience with this article was wondering if funding will come in time to help my grandmother. She just recently had to move to long term care. She is now living in a room with 5 other people. Her first week there, they had a COVID outbreak and she had to spend a week sitting alone in a wheelchair.

If you can find a gap in your rage, consider that you may be cherry picking your data points to bolster your pre-conceptions.

Also, I know that “boomer” has shifted to more a meme than a demographic but we need to start getting angry at the next generation. Boomers are dying off and they will be transferring their wealth to a much smaller group of people. If the Boomers were too rich for you, you are really going to hate these guys.
