Corendon Airlines is testing the “Only Adult” zones on flights between Amsterdam and Curaçao starting in November.
This area will be located at the front of the Airbus A350-900 aircraft and consists of nine XL seats with additional legroom and 93 standard seats.
There will be walls and curtains separating the “Only Adult” zone from the rest of the plane, making it ideal for travelers without children and business travelers who “want to work in a quiet environment,” according to a press release.
Let this idea catch on. And not just with airlines either. Restaurants, movie theaters, basically anywhere that kids go and parents are too lazy to control them.
As a parent, I actually support this idea. And it’s partly because kids are simply not always “controllable,” by any human, in a confined space after many hours.
Before I was a parent, I thought the right discipline would solve everything, but airplanes in particular are brutal environments, with very little space to move and limited options to distract them. Even screens, which are close to a silver bullet, don’t always work. Travel is exhausting and challenging for kids, and kids were never evolved well to handle being locked in a seat for hours, let alone dealing with pressure and time zone changes.
So please, until we have adults only zones, have a little patience. There are certainly bad parents, but I guarantee that most of them want their kid to be quiet even more than you do.
I’d imagine sending all the grumpy old codgers to their own zone will be a huge bonus for frazzled parents.
I was thinking… what’s the acceptable level of pain we can put children through when travelling? If kids suffer during flights, why is it OK to fly with them? Because it’s convenient?
If sitting is painful for your child, CPS needs to get involved
You know that pressure changes in an air plane are painful for children?
They’re painful for babies. You can teach a child how to pop their ears. We all learned at some point.
Aren’t babies children?
Not all children are babies. Saying “it hurts human ears” would also be correct, but disingenuous.
Bro, universal kid ban. No more kids anywhere, problem solved.
As a supporter of the voluntary human extinction movement, I agree.
Yes fucking please.
Apparently they used to have soundproof rooms in the back of nice movie theaters where u could take your crying child and still enjoy the movie…as much as possible
Supermarkets. Just put a small cage outside, you will be out in 20 minutes, the kid will be fine. It’s not like parents actually need their kids to scream that they want ice cream when shopping. I definitely don’t need to hear it.
That’s the dumbest idea I’ve seen all day. Like, seriously. That’s basically begging for kids to be kidnapped from there.
Who would want to kidnap a kid? They are useless, cost a lot of money and if you want one you can just make one easily.
Can you confirm that you are being sarcastic? I found this answer very funny, but in the second thought, I feared that this was in fact not sarcastic and that I would upvote something wrongly 😅
Of course I’m being sarcastic.
<3
The local IKEA where I grew up had an area near the entrance where parents could leave their kids while shopping.
It had like a ballpit, slides and stuff to climb. It was pretty neat.
I’d be more surprised if there is an IKEA that doesn’t have a Småland. Like meatballs, it’s kind of their thing right?
North American detected, you bunch of helicopter parents.
This completely ruins my plan of training the children to do the shopping for me so I can just go sit in the cafe until it’s time to pay.
Why can’t you train the children to pay?
But then I’d have to do all the shopping!
They should just turn the back of the plane into a ball pit and chuck all the kids back there before takeoff. The larger ones can take care of the babies.
The larger ones… you mean us adults who would not be able to resist a frolic in a ball pit?
Make this the new mile high club!
Generally not a good idea to enter mile high club around kids.
The last time I saw a bunch of adults using a ball pit people ended up being pretty pissed
I dunno, nine “XL” seats separated by a curtain sounds more like orgy class than noise-free zone
That’s the adults only zone, similar.
but definitely not noise-free (:

As if the flimsy curtain is going to do anything, haha. You could technically have a baby as close as the row behind that. And you can already hear babies crying from across the plane anyways, especially as we trend towards smaller, more efficient planes like the 737 max and extended range 320s.
This isn’t on smaller single aisle planes though, they’re doing this on an Airbus A350. On these planes there’s a galley between the front seated section and the rest of the plane, with another section before coach. So there’s a bit more than just a curtain.
Fucking finally!
Is the section going to be decorated with pineapples? And can we do adult activities? Cause if not what’s the point, ear plugs/buds easily take care of babies and Karens alike.
Ear plugs aren’t enough. Also they kick seats.
Just had two flights with a baby crying the entire time yesterday. All I had were airpods and they didn’t do shit to drown out the h8gh pitched screaming.
The most effective “headphones” I’ve found are using bone conducting ones, like shockz, along with construction ear plugs. The ear plugs on their own do so much for noise and the headphones at a pretty reasonable volume so the rest.
IEMs with foam plugs/buds. Works wonders.
I don’t fly without my deep insert etymotic IEMs. Haven’t heard a baby cry or a Karen on a plane in over 15 years.
So do adults, and even harder than children do.
I often book super early or late flights on purpose, they’re normally cheaper and typically don’t have any kids on them.
How much extra to use it though? I hope it catches on, but I doubt it will be reasonably priced enough for most travelers.
The article has the price. 45€ / $49
Thank you! I did read it but must have missed where the price was stated.
They should be charging the disruptive party a fee rather than the ones who just want to fly without the constant harrasment, screaming, and back of chair kicking.
No they shouldn’t. Going out into society means you have to cope with all kinds of things. Also, earbuds and noice canceling headphones are amazing devices.
mile high club soon to no longer be an unlockable achivement.
Let’s re-introduce smoking areas.
But make it only non-tobacco stuff.
Edit to all the people hating on me this time: if the children’s part starts like 3 rows behind your, you’ll hear them anyway and might’ve paid extra for adults only.
Let’s fly high and higher, lol
hope more will follow. no children on planes should be the normal state. unless you move or visit a dying loved one, there is no reason to bring a kid on a vehicle you share with other ppl…you are just selfish and rouining everyones day.
Yeah, just throw the kid in the garbage when you go on vacation. You can always get a new one when you get back.
I don’t like kids either but some of you don’t think twice about anything.
Children are people
Someone watched too much home alone as a kid.
That may be one reason, bot also travelling on a weekly basis. You may think your kid is special, but at best its mediocre, most likely it is the worst and y’all are giving every one a hard time.
Still, great comment
Yea, because children are cheap and every family can afford a private jet. Lol?
Ppl that are that selfish or stupid beyond repair to force new life through the upcoming hardships the world will encounter in the next years should be punished way harder than just travel bans.
also great attitude to load of your poor decisions on others and enforcing the burden on them
Well, sorry that the birth control did not work in our case… (We discovered the pregnancy in the 4th month, where abortion is not really an human opinion anymore, in my opinion) And we would have had to go to another country in order to do that, since it is only allowed until the third month here.
