They’ll finish the season now I’m sure. I’m not sure the coaching staff is really to blame though anyways. We have a great lineup on paper, that so far this year has not played up to their potential. Vlad, Springer, Chapman, Kirk, Varsho, Espinal could/should all be hitting for better average or for more power or both. I mentioned it in another comment somewhere, I think the only one on the coaching staff who should be worried about their job is Guillermo Martinez. Except like I mentioned the last time, he seems to have lots of support from the players and other staff, so who really knows what we need to start hitting.
Siddal just said on Jays central he thinks Vlad’s problems this year have been in his gather step. He’s not getting himself set soon enough, so he ends up late on fastballs, and doesn’t give himself time to react to slower stuff. This is the kind of stuff I’m taking about. You have to hope someone in the clubhouse has identified this as a problem(assuming Joe’s analysis is actually relevant), it’s just crazy that he and the team haven’t been able to find a correction for it. I’m sure there are similar stories with the other guys that are struggling.
