That seems… Immature? I mean, in a general sense the guy on top is responsible for combating corruption, but really it’s usually a systemic and cultural issue as well.
It has to change. They won’t be able to join the EU without eliminating corruption. Zelenskyy, for his part, is firing these guys.
Lower the amount of corruption. We don’t have a country in the EU which has eliminated it.
All countries have corruption at some degree. The big thing for Zelensky is to make policy and laws to guard against it while establishing watch dogs.

Berlusconi is dead. The EU itself told Ukraine it has to cure corruption for entry.
The EU has said it welcomes Ukraine’s efforts to fight corruption. Can you find a link that actively states it is a requirement?
It is part of the 7 suggested reforms the EU sent them. Read about it here… https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Accession_of_Ukraine_to_the_European_Union#:~:text=status to Ukraine.-,23 June 2022,accession to the European Union.
Happy to admit I was wrong on this one.
Isn’t Zelensky also eliminating opposition parties? No corruption ™
Doesn’t appear so. Ap0ears that folks are g9ing to court.
Ukrainians should be grateful towards President Zelensky. He is a hero.
Whenever I read articles like this
I immediately know these are Kremlin talking points, and not to be trusted.
Paradise Papers? Kremlin talking points!
The Guardian? Basically Putin’s town crier!
Any kind of nuance that maybe Ukraine and/or Zelensky might not be literally perfect? Muscovite propaganda!
Always follow the money trail. The company who completed the poll has some credibility behind it. It also produces a full financial statement. None of which shows the company is led by bad influences. It even gained 20% of its funding from the British Embassy at one point.
I cannot read the questions asked. They are shown in pictorial format and my translate programme cannot handle that. How you ask the question has a huge sway over the answers given. But since the company has the appearance of due diligence, I would see this as something that the Ukraine government should be looking at as a problem. You never fix a problem if you do not recognise it as such.
The questions are repeated on the lower half of the page (which I only noticed after extracting this from the images…). They seem reasonable. Half of them are about health care it seems. Of course, there’s a whole lot of other text on the page too that provides more details about their methodology.

Do you agree with the statement that the president carries a straight line responsibility for corruption in the government, military administrations?
This does not say he is responsible for the corruption, as in taking part. It only states that the buck stops with him and him alone. As I said context is everything.
Yeah, given the range of questions and how the article presents the results only referring to 1-2 questions, it makes me feel the article is biased.
I kind of agree. The language used is ambiguous to say the least.

I mean, by all accounts Ukraine has a huge issue with corruption. But it’s hardly the fault of the president, although it is of course part of his job (and platform) to force this to change.
The Guardian is indeed Kremlin propaganda. Ever since Ole Jacob Sunde took over (with known ties to the Kremlin), The Guardian has very slightly shifted their editorial stance to be marginally more pro-Russian.
Exactly. So is Washington Post and Financial Times and The Economist and many others. The only person I trust is Zelensky. He is a truth-teller and a hero. Slava Ukraini.
I genuinely can’t tell if your comment is satire.
Reminds me of how Americans credit or blame the president for current gas prices, as if he sets them himself.
What I’d want to know is what kind of corruption, and what specifically they think he did or didn’t do to bring it about.Smash cut to Biden sitting in front of a big dial labled “GAS PRICE”, every so slowly turning it further while giggling.
Way to expose how gas prices are set.
We can hardly blame Saudi Arabia because they’re an ally.
Sounds like they want a dictator, not a president.
I feel like it’s a bit of an ambiguous question: are they saying the president is responsible for tackling corruption, or that the president is responsible for fostering a culture of corruption?
Ultimately the buck stops at the top, and it’s up to the president to get control of it.
