The Ontario government has agreed to pay $320,000 in legal fees to a class action seeking $200 million in damages for the early termination of a basic income pilot project.

The 4,000 members involved argue the cancellation of a government-run basic income program equates to a breach of contract

    Oh I dunno, I just did the math. $320,000 ÷ by 4000 is $80.

Edit: upon further thought, the article doesn’t say if this is the end of the lawsuit or not. Sounds like the $320,000 amount is what the government has already paid to their lawyers to fight it.

$320,000 is the legal fees. The post/article mentions the damages they’re seeking too, which is $200,000,000.

I didn’t read the article though, so I don’t know if they are/n’t getting it (or if it hasn’t been decided yet).

Yeah I added an edit when I realized the article doesn’t say whether or not the lawsuit is over.
