well yeah, they have added features to it over time. This isn’t all new stuff with the app this year.
Look I get that you can call it sherlocking to some degree, just not to “a whole new level” as you put it earlier. It was born from password saving in safari, which web browsers have always had, and evolved from there. Also also keypass on Mac to a lesser degree.
You had to go dig deep in Settings to delete or change a password. Now it’s in a built-in app.
Also, family sharing, one-time passwords, and Passkey support are all exact functionality of several third-party password managers.

You could always quickly access it by just searching passwords on spotlight
