I’m just glad it’s not Tubgirl.
Based on my experience with a modded 3ds, many people are willing to spend a few extra minutes on transferring data if they can avoid annoyances with juggling physical media. Unless there’s a common USB mod for the C64, propping your phone up to your C64 for a few minutes might have some appeal from a convenience perspective.
I didn’t have a 3ds when it was current because of getting a headache the one time I tried one, but I bought a new 3ds last year and I have no issues with having the 3d on for shorter gaming sessions. The eye tracking seems to be a huge improvement for me.
I’ve played Virtual Boy games on my 3ds and it’s pretty amazing. You’re right that due to the 3d being optional in most games means they couldn’t really use it in gameplay, but with the Virtual Boy games, those were designed for and must be played in 3d. It really made me wonder what could have been for the 3ds if all the things about the hardware that made the 3ds special were used in more creative ways.
Well, at least you’re forcing people to pace themselves.
I may fall under the same criteria for Luxembourgish citizenship, all male lineage back to Luxembourg. How was the process, and how long did it take? I’m considering going through LACS for the paperwork.
Huh, I wonder if there’s a way to make a “light gun” style game and the phone’s built-in send to TV function, and you’re shooting whatever your phone camera is pointing at on the TV screen? Is it possible to have the phone display something different than what it’s sending to the TV? Honestly, committing to the fact it’s a camera you’re aiming with could make for a fun Fatal Frame or Pokemon Snap type game…
I’ve seen a few YouTubers buy AliExpress 3ds consoles, and all of those have been refurbished, often with after market shells which, while often not terrible, aren’t Nintendo quality. If the console shows up, it’ll probably be fine, but you’re still not necessarily getting an amazing deal. I got my New 3ds LL (Japanese version) in excellent condition from a seller on eBay based in Japan for about $25 less and I got one with an upper IPS screen - but mine is in black. If you really want a special 3ds and you’re okay with a decent reshell, buying through AliExpress might be an alright option.
I’ve got the tools, I just need to get some oxyclean so that I can avoid disassembling the device multiple times, lol. I’m kinda busy and I’m hoping to get to it next week during my weekend.
If you’ve got a modded 3ds, Red Viper works extremely well to emulate Virtual Boy games, if you’re curious about them. Arguably it’s a better experience than playing them on a Virtual Boy.
Thanks for all of the advice! I’ll have to try and get my gbc working again too. I knew I needed some specialty bits to disassemble but wasn’t completely sure what.
Congrats!
I recently found my game boy color with my copy of Pokemon Red in it - a fresh set of batteries and it started the game just fine, but most of the buttons are non functional. Did you need to replace the buttons, or did they just work after cleaning with alcohol?
I wonder if oxyclean will work for my lime green gbc or if something else would be better?
I played so much Missile Command and Super Break Out on that controller, I got one of the 2300 TV boxes and that just didn’t hit my nostalgia buttons because the self centering didn’t feel right to me. At some point I hope to get another 5200 and some games, my original one fell off a shelf and broke when my father threw a tantrum and slammed a door.
Atari 5200 because my parents found one at a garage sale with some games when I was 5 and it was my first console. ;)
The correct answer is one of the other ones.
I wonder if they got any polite phone calls from some three letter agencies for this website?
Burning DVDs I’m not sure I get, CDs though? There’s still people driving cars that lack Bluetooth, and some people like listening to a whole album uninterrupted by phone distractions and there’s something nice about physical media - it makes sense for most of the reasons vinyl makes sense, it doesn’t, but it’s fun anyway.
A friend of mine did that with VHS, beta, cassettes, and 8tracks back in the day and got busted by the FBI.
I just played Mario Tennis and Galactic Pinball for the first time, those are great. I did get the emulator to crash on closing it once, but whatever, lol.
This isn’t my 3ds, this is a seller image. There’s a lot to like about the rest of it, but ultimately I’ve decided not to buy this one because of the damage. I looked into what it would take to change it and I don’t think I have the skills to do it - and this isn’t “fun to tinker with” cheap. And yeah, replacing the shell on a 3ds looks like it sucks major ass, lol.
It surprises me a bit that PS3 emulation isn’t a thing on some of the newest Android phones (but not actually good yet). I could probably do PS2 fairly well on my current phone, and it’s so old it’s an LG, was the jump from PS2 to PS3 that big of a jump? (Having lived through that era… actually yeah, it kinda was.)
