  • That’s a leap if I ever saw one. I could ask the same question and substitute AI with god or aliens and I’d be ridiculed by the tech community and with good reason.

And you don’t need to take it much further to fall into the holographic universe principle or the simulation hypothesis and for those there are big discussions to be had in science communities.

To be clear, nothing stops you or me, or anyone for that matter from assuming so, but down that road the only answer I can think of is that nothing matters and might as well lay down and die.

  • I’ll have to go through that thread post by post when I have time.

Depending on the game I switch between Xbox series, kishi, ps4 or dualshock 2, the latter I think is my favorite controller. I have tried a few others in the past, like Gamesir stuff and a few other telescopic ones for phones but didn’t stick for me.

However I am of the opinion of playing a game the way it was supposed to, if possible, ie I’d rather use a 3rd party n64 controller for n64 games.

I am not sure if Lemmy can handle it, but if it can, I want to eventually start a thread on controllers per system, with linked reviews on comments, either mine or from the community. But I doubt Lemmy can do that. Perhaps a wiki of sorts. Eventually.

  • After my last visit on r/piracy, I’m of the mind to close it down for good and if reddit wants it back they can do so themselves.

Sure, there’s a few people there that honestly ask question about the community since they weren’t checking reddit at the time, but any attempt to explain has people insulting me. They want to stay there? Fine, cut ties and let them moderate it. That means they inherit a community someone else worked hard to build but whatever. With the attitudes I notice, they are not going to manage to keep it running for more than a few months anyways.

  • Nobody stops you from uploading stuff and sharing it. But certain communities like for example private trackers have a process to allow you to become an uploader.

As for money, ask yourself, it’s piracy, which by definition means that you want to download stuff without paying for them. Why would they pay you instead?

There’s a few cases that it worked before but is generally frowned upon, as if holding the files hostage. Now if it’s a service that nobody else can do, or files that nobody else has laying around or easy access to buy and share for free, you could try that. Again, nobody stops you, but most people wouldn’t see kindly to that. From leechers to other uploaders.
