Libby is the service my library uses. The state capital gives everyone a free library card also, so I get access to a much wider library than i would otherwise. Bullshit the restrictions publishers require, like forcing the library to buy a license for each “copy” of a book it loans, but libraries are still fighting the good fight more than anywhere else I know.

Just because they’re both FPGA based products does not mean they’re equivalent. The Pocket can use its FPGAs to replicate dozens of different consoles and arcade units. It also has sleep mode and save states when using original cartridges.

Without adapters or OpenFPGA, the pocket can play GB, GBC, GBA original carts. With adapters, you can add in Neo Geo and Game Gear carts, and with open FPGA, you can add in NES, SNES, Genesis, Master System, dozens of arcade units, and dozens more I’m just forgetting. I personally have DigDug, Q Bert, and all the ones I mention above on mine.

The hardware alone on the Pocket is a massive upgrade over Funnyplaying, but when you include the OpenFPGA support, they’re not even in the same league. Not to trash the funny playing one, I think it’s great. It’s just not the same product category even imo.

Yeah I feel that also. That’s why I believe in democratization of the workplace. Instead of obeying the whims of a single dictator-leader or small board of directors, labor should be able to collectively decide the motivations and direction of their labor power.

With such ownership of development, instead of working for someone else’s vision, we’d be able to collectively develop and manifest a vision that isn’t predicated solely on the extraction of profit, but on the collective needs and desires of those within and without the company itself, meaning those within the community who will also be affected by the decisions of the company.

But of course, as of now, this is just the rambling dreams of one person, and not an actualized reality.

Idk, I’d be willing to overwork myself if it were for a really good cause, like ending hunger, or rapidly building houses that will be provided free at point of use to unhoused and low income people, etc. definitely not a normal job I’d do it fit though.

The US military hasn’t ever won an asymmetrical guerrilla war, so it’s not as absurd as you think. In that Instance, millions of people would likely die, but it’s still more likely that guerrillas survive for decades than it is the US wins.

Man, I make more than enough to replace my phone every year if I wanted, but I’m not as wasteful as you apparently. I used my iPhone 6s until the XS released, and I’ll use my XS for a couple years more at least. I’d honestly keep using it forever, batteries are cheap and I repaired electronics for a living so I can do it myself, but eventually they’ll stop letting me open apps on it like they did my 6s, essentially forcing me to replace a perfectly functional device.
