  • If you think world governments and corporations care about climate change…. Haha

A lot actually do, that’s why progress is happening, although not nearly fast enough.

We all need to commute 45 minutes to 1.5 hours to work every day here in the USA.

You don’t need to. A lot of people have much shorter commutes. But yes I agree with you, the US is way too suburbanised, and people need to push for more urbanization, 15 minute cities, etc.

But damn if I’m going to use a plastic straw

There are hundreds of things that we need to change in the fight to be sustainable. This is one of them. Just because it’s not everything doesn’t make it not worthwhile.

  • As someone who does know about this field, and absolute despise Musk, that’s not quite true. SpaceX is very successful thanks to help from the US government, and despite the influence of Musk, but also because they are a team of very competent people who have actually innovated and pushed the boundaries of launch vehicles. To say they have nothing going for them and are being propped up by the government is not at all accurate, and they have been much more succesful than traditional government contractors.

  • What do you think big companies produce to make CO2? What do you think the big barges are transporting? At the end of the day, companies make what consumers want. And the meat industry is a horrible contributor to climate change, not to talk about land and water usage. So say all you want to make you feel better, which is fine, but the facts are that we as a society need to eat less meat to be more sustainable. Eating meat twice a day is not necessary, and nor is it even common, both on a global and historical scale. It is a luxury that we have to think hard about whether we should reduce the use of.
