Is this really necessary, having one family be pretty much above the law and having their lifestyle be funded via public funds? Thatcher was one of such neoliberals, she would always talk about how people should become self-sufficient and governments shouldn’t interfere in the free market for it to truly work and so on, but during her rule she was spending billions in subsidies for corporations (aka government interference in the free market). Realistically, the only real way to deal with them is counter-protest, but that’s difficult since the right has completely taken over the direct action/protest field in the past 10 years, so it’s a question whether or not the left can organize anymore (unless things get really bad, like how Antifa was very active during Trump).

We can try to combat misinformation and propaganda on the media to try and prevent this from even happening or telling people that it’s all bullshit, but it’s not effective since many popular sources directly benefit from this misinformation (be it in clicks or political goals) and either turn a blind eye or purposefully spread it (notable instance being Twitter).

Unless some sort of magical fairy-tale leftist revolution happens where most people get rallied under class issues and inequality rather than race and shared bigotry, this will probably continue happening more and more.

I didn’t use reddit that much before switching to lemmy (only browsing a couple of niche subreddits that I liked), but in general I do like people here a bit more. At least in my experience, I saw more people here willing to have discussions when compared to reddit, which is something I do enjoy from time to time.

That being said, I must agree with a lot of commenters in this thread - there is a lot of propaganda on this platform and that’s a part of lemmy that I have the biggest gripes with.

On my way to completing my first playthrough, I had to spend at least 2 months warming up to the game and actually going through the first hour, after which it was absolutely amazing. I’m still replaying it once a year due to how much I love it.

Nothing, I didn’t think much of it or cared if something was open source or not.
