Can you not make that point without the ableism?
Can you not make that point without the ableism?
Don’t forget the burkini, as well as plain old surfing and diving clothes, both of which often come in full body coverage (as do professional swimming costumes, like for the Olympics).
So women might be expected to wear skimpy swimwear by society (mostly by and for creepy men like OP who like to control women and think we need to edit ourselves for their comfort), but that by no means equals having to.
Beats me, people saying “if you’re tired enough you can sleep anywhere”, making me laugh my exhausted ass off (and feel jealous af, but can’t really hold it against them).
I’ve spent more nights than I can count laid in bed for hours, absolutely shattered, wanting nothing but sleep, and none has come. Then when I do finally fall asleep, it isn’t for long or of any decent quality (as in EtraordinaryJoe’s case - chronic pain will do that to you), so I’m still always tired, and yet still unable to just fall asleep.
My trick to getting to sleep at night is weed and a meal, to help induce food coma, which again, isn’t quality sleep, but it’s better than nothing…
Just to add, give Approved Food a look, they sell food that is past it’s best by date, but still good to eat, at much lower prices.
There are also places, I can’t think of what they’re called right now, but it’s basically a communal grocery shop where you take what you need, and pay what you can. Maybe ask your local foodbank if they know of anything like that?
Lastly, when I was looking for an example of that last one, I found this page that might be helpful:

Some good tips here already (look for another food bank/pantry/church in your area that could help, follow dumpster diving youtube channels for advice), you could also try some of these, or look for similar sites (I’ve only skimmed these, not vouching for the content):

But more importantly, please have a look at/chat to turn2us, you are almost certainly entitled to some benefits, they will help you figure out which you are entitled to, and there are then benefits advisers in almost every town who can help you through the process if you find it too daunting and/or difficult.
Solidarity.
And some just see those who militantly focus on attacking fellow individuals instead of the systems that are actually to blame (but which they otherwise support and/or benefit from, like capitalism, racism, and ableism) counterproductive, annoying, and hypocritical.
The militant vegans I have come across, and being vegan myself, it’s a lot, far too many (E: to the point I actively avoid vegan spaces), are almost exclusively drowning in so much privilege, they can’t see how ridiculous they’re being in their bizarre militancy of policing other people’s plates instead of the actual industries abusing animals (and humans, who these vegans rarely to never pay any thought to, not out loud or in their actions, anyway).
(before I even hit send: if you feel personally attacked by my comment - that’s a sign for you to think about it with yourself and ideally do something about it, not try and prove me wrong, inevitably proving me 100% right)
While I’m autistic and have my own issues with food, we’re all different and have our own lists of “safe” and “unsafe” foods, so I don’t have any specific advice other than please, please don’t listen to the people who want you to abuse your child by either forcing, or withholding food.
Post this in an autistic group if you want to hear how well that actually works (that’s actually the best advice I can give in general - follow autistic people and spaces, listen to autistic adults who have been there and know what your child is going through, and, often with the opposite intent, the damage their parent or guardian or doctor or “therapist” did to their mental and general health and wellbeing because they were treated as “poorly behaved” neurotypicals, instead of the neurodiverse individuals that they (we) are).
E: even if it turns out they aren’t autistic, forcing and/or withholding food is still just as shitty a thing to do.
So, abuse the autistic child…
That’s not how autistic disordered eating works.
He’ll eat when he gets hungry enough
Says every person who has no experience with or knowledge of autistic people yet thinks they know better…
New England stone walls lie at the intersection of history, archaeology, ecology and geoscience
Also, cinema
he does not get labeled as such in the news anymore
That’s because the philanthropy is working exactly as intended - to white wash his reputation, and make him out to be “the good billionaire”.
Moving down from no. 1 to no. 5, at that scale of wealth literally has no impact on him, but rather it’s money well spent to take the heat and attention off of him so he can continue exploiting an hoarding in peace.
Mmmmmm, eugenics…
Back in my day no one had to tell us not to put a banana in our ear, I’m telling you, the youth of today… Shakes fist angrily at clouds
(sorry, it’s the first thing my brain pulled up when I read the title 😂😂)
This, just keep in mind that these places are often first come first serve, and only have limited spaces each day, so check in advance, and be prepared to turn up quite early to get your place in line (I have done this myself, it’s a bit of a hassle, but the treatment was as good as any, and was supervised the whole time. Their work is still in place over a decade later).
Sadly I don’t think any nationalised healthcare services provide free dental (aka luxury bone care) anymore, I know the NHS doesn’t, even the very few of their dentists that remain in the now almost exclusively private, and expensive, sector, charge money for treatment (at the top tier which covers complex treatments, it’s £300+, and this resets every 2 months, so if your treatment takes longer, which it is likely to because of lack of appointments, you have to pay that again).
It’s great that we take care of our elders
You mean of our rich people.
Because the government treats our non-rich elders like shit, just like the rest of us, there are over 2 million pensionaries living in poverty in the UK (and many more millions just shy of it who don’t make the statistics but are still struggling):
https://www.theguardian.com/society/2024/apr/16/nearly-1m-uk-pensioners-deprivation-official-figures
Yes, there are probably more rich people who are pensionaries than other generations, because they had a significantly easier economy to navigate, and of course more time to accumulate wealth, but don’t confuse that class divide with the divisive propaganda spread to maintain a generational divide to keep us from joining forces against those who have and continue to exploit us (the general population, of all ages, back when the pensionaries were young, and still now).
Yeah, and die of starvation or exposure, which ever comes first…
Maybe take a look around at the reality most people face before giving such out of touch advice…
