They see higher education of youths as a threat to their political base, which turns into “spineless parents sending kids to liberul brainwashing camps funded by the gubmnt.”

Public media does not mean there isn’t someone powerful pulling the strings. Public works aren’t funded by us, they’re funded by the agencies that reserve the right to pull said funding regardless of public support. We fund those agencies.
Yet language and abstraction are the core of intelligence. You cannot have intelligence without 2 way communication, and if anything, your brain contains exactly that dictionary you describe. Ask any verbal autistic person, and 90% of their conversations are scripted to a fault. However, there’s another component to intelligence that the Turing Test just scrapes against. I’m not philosophical enough to identify it, but it seems like the turing test is looking for lightning by listening for rumbling that might mean thunder.

I work in IT. My favorite thing to call tricky problems is “interesting.” It always gives the reasonably frustrated client a reason to chuckle. “Very cool,” or “Is -that- so” or “ah, good, a different error! Progress…” Are other ones to sprinkle in where they fit. Being upbeat while sharing their frustration to an empathetic degree buys you a lot more time to troubleshoot than if you sat on mute for 30min googling things and clicking on their remote window once every 5min to get the same error. And conveying that a problem is very complex is also important, when to them, going from not printing to printing seems like it should be an easy fix because “it worked this morning.”

If you’re remote-accessing these resources and can’t always be home to manage the cutover to cellular, I recommend splurging on a Unifi Dream Machine and LTE Backup module. Getting a verizon gateway or similar device won’t properly communicate with your network and has to use it’s own judgement through traffic monitoring to know when to take over DHCP/routing. We (local MSP) just resolved an issue where these devices couldn’t tell between an ISP blip or an outage and so it would wrestle DHCP from the firewall when they still had internet, killing their wireless printers. Unifi LTE communicates with the UDM over a very verbose and reliable protocol. The LTE doesn’t kick on until the FW realizes there’s a problem on the primary WAN.
And do what? Make a better product? The beauty of Capitalism is that consumers really are the final say on whether your product succeeds. You can make an app with as many addictive hooks as possible, but that doesn’t make those users permanent. And any sabbotage by Reddit will only dig in our heels at this point.
