Writing is way more than creating outlines or checking the plot for problems. It’s more than even writing a first draft. In fact, it starts with the first round of edits, when characters awake and find their voices etc.

People who think writing with AI is just pushing buttons underestimate the complexity of the process, and using AI for things you’d usually use other writers’ feedback or betas or developmental editors for is just an evolution of tools, the same way we don’t scratch on stone tablets anymore today.

As for apps, I’m using Liftoff, which works well, but hasn’t seen an update for a while, and I don’t know how active the dev is. I’d rather not use Jerboa, which has been created by tankies, or any of the ad-infested ones, like Boost, because I think it’s despicable to try and profit off of user-generated content on a platform that’s meant to be free (could have stayed on Reddit if I wanted that).

When I first heard about the API shutdown, I immediately overwrote all my comments and posts with randomly generated nonsense, then kept reading till RIF ceased to exist. Before I deleted the account, I ran a mass-deletion tool. Hopefully that prevented them from restoring the original content I contributed for free. Been on Lemmy ever since.

I make one attempt to explain myself, maybe add a clarification. If it still looks like it’d turn into an argument, I just let it go.

Trading with currency is the basis for capitalism. Capitalism is lending/investing. When you don’t have any actual wares at hand, but currency, virtual value, you trade for higher future virtual value.

Capitalism really is trading goods for currency, and allowing lending and investment. What’s going on though, with unchecked companies and laughable fines, ruins the whole thing. In its current state, capitalism will be our undoing, but with proper laws, regulations and oversight, it could work.

The problem is, corps have grown too powerful already and can blackmail governments. It’s like other models that could work in theory, but never benefit the people in the end. Communism tends to lead to tyranny, for example.

People are just really shit at designing and running big societies.
