And, I even wonder if anyone would be surprised by this news.
And this just came in : "opposition candidate Edmundo González on Monday announced that his campaign has the proof it needs to show he won the country’s disputed election "
That’s how we learn new unexpected things. Just so long as it doesn’t come at the expense of further research on stuff
Yeah, as for the first bit, for sure; exploration and discoveries mostly lead to advancements in the field.
The second sentence is a bit harder to grasp, because stuff that already works usually doesn’t need much further research. Unless you have something specific in mind or it’s a new field like mrna vaccinations against cancer, for example.
Getting back to the article, I like this quote: " It does not at all mean being soft on science," says Kuruvilla. “It actually means being hard on traditional medicine and hard on science, to say, do we have the right methods to understand more complex phenomena in the right way?”
I am curious to see how these clashes in viewpoints develop from a more international perspective. Traditional versus modern medicine, versus misinformation; ancient cultural rooted customs versus science and a billion dollar industry. Beliefsystems; placebo effect versus empirical data.
I hope we will have some positive cross-pollination.
But, they won, everybody needs to be human again.
Well, I guess that’s the whole context here. It’s something that’s happening today .
It’s complicated, again it’s like saying “Kill the Japs!” Or “Kill the Bosch!” During ww2.
Yeah, I know what" boers" mean, so I got the examples . But I didn’t know the song existed, so tnx for the link!
Tbh " Killing " this or that group is just not ok, especially when it’s a rallying political song.
Just the very existence; it is just too weird to read about in this day and age.
PS: I also don’t get discrimination because of whatever color. I mean, I do get that people differentiate , which is something completely" human", imo.
For example, when I walk on the paveway someplace and I see some sketchy ppl walking towards me (no matter the color) , and they feel wrong to me, I do cross the street to the other side.

Not the most reliable source according to https://mediabiasfactcheck.com/south-china-morning-post/
Overall, we rate The South China Morning Post Left-Center biased and Mixed for factual reporting due to poor sourcing.
In Europe we try to divide Politics and Judicial appointments. The French, at least, beg to differ.
Yes, I stand corrected. It was a reaction to your first paragraph. There are several systems, and they are all a bit different.
And, tnx for your answer. Maybe one must really live though what’s going on in Brazil to really compehrend the whole story. As an outsider, familiar with a different system, it does seem a bit strange at first glance.
In Europe we try to divide Politics and Judicial appointments. In the Americas though, it is a more common practice like you probably meant to say.
But doesn’t Lula know any other lawyer, one that hasn’t been representing him in court, but still one he trusts?
Or, so you say that there is actually no conflict in interest, because Pres. Lula is countering the other judges, and that is in his interest?
Definitely conflict of interest. Whether that lawyer is “upstanding” or not, is not the issue here, imo. Unless he really is the only one in the whole of Brazil, which is unimaginable.
“Telesur” is not the best source according to: https://mediabiasfactcheck.com/telesur/
Here another source, PBS
Yeah , especially with “El Niño” heating things up now in the Pacific since the end of 2022 (spell)
Maybe learn the terms you’re well-actuallying because your brain dead chatGPT response is completely irrelevant.
Yeah, I’m not surprised about your response. I guess that makes you a proganandist, I don’t like people spreading misinformation
Fuck off bot,
So you can’t be respectful?
Maybe you should catch-up with history a bit. Europe hasn’t had colonies for a long time now.
Europe and France have some overseas territories, some of them want more autonomy, others don’t.
“with a pinch of salt”
or a bucket of salt, in this case.
Anyone can accuse anyone; doesn’t mean much, especially when the one saying it is the coupleader.
Not sure whether France will do much; they seem very reluctant according to the article. France has also their own domestic isuues now. It would rather appear that the AU (African Union) and the Ecowas will take action.
Also, it was The African Union and Ecowas that has issued a 15-day ultimatum to the junta in Niger
FYI: Ecowas also serves as a peacekeeping force in the region, with member states occasionally sending joint military forces to intervene in the bloc’s member countries at times of political instability and unrest
What really got me worried was a warning ( warning collapse per 2025) about a projected collapse of the Atlantic Gulfstream.:
“The Gulf Stream system could collapse as soon as 2025, a new study suggests. The shutting down of the vital ocean currents, called the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation (Amoc) by scientists, would bring catastrophic climate impacts.”
That would be very bad news for Europe and The Atlantic and other sea currents in general.
Allright, I guess that we agree that
Sahels history hasn’t been peaceful for a long time.
The usage of “this” and "that ", could have lead to some misinterprations. I was indeed refering to the older (and still relevant) history in the region, like the one you mentioned in your latest comment, eg. droughts, farmers & nomads.
Concerning colonialism, most countries have been colonies or subject to one or another empire. It is only in more recent times, that we have created & accepted the idea of independent states on an international level. Unfortunately, some nations or movements, disregard this notion and create chaos and undermine (fragile) stability.
Also, maybe it’s part of being" neutral", yet the future will tell where this (alleged of human rights abuses) tiktok president is going
" DW Asia-Pacific Bureau Chief Georg Matthes, however, is certain that Indonesia is still trying to remain non-aligned in international politics, despite the exercises with Russia.
“These trainings are quite important for Indonesian military, but it’s not something uncommon. They recently conducted a similar training with German naval vessels,” Matthes said, also mentioning the massive annual “Super Garuda Shield” exercises that Indonesia has conducted with the United States since 2006.
