She has wings.
She has wings.
Technically replaced by a similar product with a new name. I liked the simplicity of Chromecast, but if you bought the last two generations (anything past Chromecast Ultra) then you already have the more complicated device. So if you want to cast to a device, you can still do that.
Yes. Many apps already do this. There is some specific wording you have to use since Apple doesn’t like when you do that, but yes you can.
It’s definitely amplified to pretend that any existing story is a “real story” or to just pad a slow news day.
You can just say “Twitter users are saying” and suddenly something sounds important. No need to clarify that it’s just a few dozen people, and by “people” it’s just Twitter accounts many of which are bots.
The sooner Twitter implodes the better off we all are. Sure I’d like folks to move to Mastodon, but really I don’t care where they go. Bluesky or Threads is fine. Some new hotness/flavor of the week is fine. But Twitter is a lost cause. It’s speeding towards failure since Musk took over but he just accelerated its eventual fate.
For anyone wondering you only need an email and and an address to checkout, once checked out you’ll get a link to download.
The email and address don’t have to be anything particularly accurate/real.
They’ll never remove it because that’s how they get AI training data.
Right but you said “hopefully” and “can”.
They haven’t actually done that yet.
I do think the Manifest v2 situation is interesting, but keep in mind the Chromium/Blink engine is fully open source.
It’s a trickier sell to say they have complete control when anyone is free to fork it.
On what grounds would that trial exist?
They’re the only rendering engine? Oh because they stopped paying Mozilla? Due to a court order?
It’s a complicated situation.
It’s also a (US) election year, which tends to just be crazier than normal. It’s possible Reddit is tweaking things, but it’s also possible that election years bring out the worst in people. I definitely noticed a change back in 2016, less in 2020 but also COVID made everything weird.
There is also the obvious exodus of users in the past year. I’m not saying it’s a lot in terms of numbers, and I’m sure they were replaced, but I suspect some shift in demographics.
Also Twitter. Twitter had a huge rage problem before Muskrat took over, but now it is soooooo much worse. For some reason people don’t leave and then I’m sure carry over that rage to other sites.
You’ve been duped.
https://old.reddit.com/r/Millennials/
Seems to be the “real” subreddit.
https://old.reddit.com/r/millenials
With a missing second “n” seems to be a bot filled hell hole.
But also, I only left reddit a year ago and have never heard of the sub so who knows.
Also remember that Reddit as a whole is only going to get worse. The only goal is to make as much money as possible before it crashes in a cesspool of pure garbage like Facebook or Twitter.
We made some for the 4th. It’s not common but for parties? Everyone loves Jello Shots.

I’m amazed and so glad to read this. This is basically my exact strategy.
I watch the newer episodes (I’ll have seen them enough eventually) and I turn my screen nearly off (almost no backlight plus a filter).
I switch up the shows sometime, but if I need sleep it’s Futurama.
This is the biggest one for me.
At some point I stopped using Reddit on the web/desktop and just started to use it on my phone/tablet. I tried different apps, but settled with RIF. Every few years I’d try different apps, but always found my way back to RIF.
Reddit did a bunch of stupid things over the years, but I could happily ignore them and continue to use RIF.
When RIF went away I had to find a new app. The official app wasn’t going to work for me. Old Reddit on the phone wasn’t going to work for me.
Luckily there are plenty of Lemmy apps. I’ve settled on Voyager (wefwef) but Boost seems fine too.
Sure, the content has changed a bit, but it’s close enough.
For me a good app is key. Lemmy has good apps. I use Lemmy.
So many apps redesign themselves and assume I’ll get used to it. In actuality they cause me to wonder, “Do I still need you?” and start looking for alternatives.
That isn’t to say that apps can’t ever redesign themselves, but so many redesigns seem to follow the latest trend and don’t demonstrate a clear understanding of their users.
Conceptually I get what you’re saying, but I’ve never used Twitter and I dropped Reddit in July cold turkey.
I have had no issues being where the people are just sticking to the Fediverse.
I don’t feel like I’ve missed anything. I did pick up Mastodon, but that’s just lurking. I picked up a few news apps to fill in a blank or two, but those usually end up on Lemmy anyway.
Nostalgia is the simple answer. I watched it last night, it wasn’t very good, but it had some funny jokes and throwback moments.
In terms of ratings, 67% is probably a bit high even for the target audience. Outside the target audience it should be much lower.
In terms of content, they stretched the skit to make the first movie and it was fine. For the sequel, they pretty much just reference things and add a little bit.
Basically if you think you’d like to see it, you’ll probably enjoy at least parts of it. If you skip it, you’re not missing anything.
Not even just “certain countries”, in the U S of fuckin A.
The first four seasons, arguably the best seasons, were only available to HBO subscribers. The only way to get HBO was to be a cable subscriber. So you were paying probably $100 a month to watch one show. There is NO WAY that was going to be successful. This was the rise of Netflix. I could pay $100 per year for their content. By 2014/2015 I was getting House of Cards, Orange is the New Black, Bojack Horseman, it was a great time.
Now lucky for HBO Game of Thrones is a powerhouse. So what do they do in 2015? They launch HBO Now… as an iOS exclusive. I want to pay you but you cut out half your audience? Guess I’m pirating Season 5 too.
Finally by season 6 HBO Now is available for everyone. I’ve now watched the majority of the show by pirating it. I don’t fault anyone who continued to do so. And this was the American experience. I can only imagine how other countries handled it.
Game of Thrones wasn’t in jeopardy because of piracy. Game of Thrones only succeeded due to piracy. It was a fantastic show (in the early seasons) but doomed to “cancelled too soon” without piracy.
I agree but that is what Twitter seems to have done and for some reason it’s still around. Dying, but still around.
