An issue I have with AIO is I can’t use an internal IP address, and I’m required to have a domain or revese proxy.

Dealing with viruses:
Get a linux iso and scan potential threats with ClamAV/TK.
Fresh install (If you are paranoid.)
Manually find and remove dangerous software. (VirusTotal may help.)

In seriousness, have you consider using it as a DNS filter (Pi-Hole) or Samba share (32GB)?
I also could recommend running wireguard/openvpn, and Port Forward to the outside would for a secure connecton.
