Same. If I could still use boost I would probably go back often, but the official all is so incredibly, profoundly user unfriendly that I just can’t
Sounds like something that might happen in Gotham
This is the right answer. Of course marginalized groups tend to colonize new communities, because the big platforms, both because of their top-down structuring Nd because of the people who are on them, aren’t always welcoming.
This is different from Voat tho. Voat was explicitly made to be a “free speech zone” i.e. a “let’s say nazi shit because nobody can censor us”-space. The fediverse’s idea is simply not to be dependent on centralised platforms, it says nothing about the content. If it happens to be left leaning, it’s because left leaning people tend to care more about stuff like right to privacy and centralisation.
What’s the evidence that they managed that because they were closed?
Keeping torrents alive and allowing free downloads aren’t necessarily related
I watch my son walk to another kid with a ball and nonchalantly ask: “wanna play?”, and I feel a tear swell up.
I could never wrap my head around the concept of “karma farming”
Because they’re needlessly elitist and self-congratulating. The whole point of piracy is to spread stuff, not gatekeep it. Enforce quality control, vet those who can upload, put checks and limits, maybe even put rules against hit and runs, but do not close the access to downloading stuff to anyone.
I mean this without sarcasm at all: why exactly are you people nuking your accounts? I’m not planning to use Reddit much from now on, but I don’t really see any reason why i should destroy an anonymous account over there …
I hate private trackers and I think they should be a thing of the past
Honestly, I agree with you.
Of course, if someone offered to come by my house and set this all up for free I wouldn’t say no, but nowadays with a fast enough internet connection and the right tracker you’re a few keystrokes and maybe 15 minutes away from any movie or TV series you might feel like watching.
The 15/20 minutes saved don’t justify the massive work and maintenance to keep this all running.
