  • Sales tax is the most obvious example of adding to the cost I’ve been shown, but it’s everything. Here if there is a price on something that is the price you pay. Period.
If I have €5 and the price on the shelf is €4.90 we are all good, and I don’t even need to know what country I’m in!

But is is more than that, if I take my car in to be fixed, they have to agree every cost they want to charge me in advance at no point can anything cost me more than I expected and agreed to up front.
Airline tickets, theatre tickets, hospital bills, TV ads, you name it, the price they state or advertise is what I pay, no ifs-no buts.

  • I think this instance would have to be aware of the post, so either

    • Somebody on kbin.social would have to have followed the user who made the post; or
    • A there needs to be direct mention of a user or a magazine here (along the lines of @ random@ kbin.social) in the post.

Once this instance knows about the post I think, yes, it can appear in the Microblog tab.

  • Yes I was also thinking along those lines. When you create a magazine you can choose hastags to associate with it, I briefly considered whether you could create a magazine specifically to have interesting hashtags for you - problem with that is you end up modding the magazine and anybody can see it, join it and post.

I suspect what you describe might come later, it feels like a natural progression from what we have now.

  • This is true, but twitter also has an opaque algorithm to choose what appears in your feed. By default Mastodon only allows you to view your feed in chronological order, so there is an argument to make that kbin allows a more twitter like experience…

I do also get there is a steeper learning curve with kbin, and it’s basically still only an alpha release (it’s clearly not going to be right for everyone).
