Holy defeatism, Batman!
Spook = ghost (aka a soul unhoused a living body)
K8s is great, but you’re chaning the subject and not answering OPs question. Containers =/= VMs.
Slippers are terrible. They are floppy, and i have to keep my toes curled to keep them from falling off.
Because I’m Mr Rogers. When I come home, I take off my jacket & work shoes, and put on my sweater and home shoes. I also sing a song.
Will you marry me?
Richard Stallman is the patron saint of Open Source. Stallman, like all “saints” is a pig headed extremist who is maniacally single minded. I’m very glad he came along.
Capitalism is not millennia old. Capitalism (as commonly defined) only stared to take root after the black death (1350ish) flipped feudalism on its head. Suddenly the free and unfree peasant class had some control of their own destiny and could sell their skills to whomever they wanted at whatever price they could get. Serfs could declare themselves free. Land was often up for grabs.
Alas, the alternative to capitalism has never been socialism, but feudalism.
Ahhh, Excentrica Gallumbits. I remember her fondly.
The rise in interest rates meant easy money dried up for corporations. They all had to “monitize” at the same time. That’s why enshitification happened everywhere at the same time. Things are easing. Enshitification will slow down.
It’s not even a concious conspiracy, it’s just the result of “the attention economy”.
Don’t feed the trolls.
I’m pretty sure everyone here understands both sides of the argument, but just don’t concider it important enough to change their vocabulary.
I wouldn’t mix 5400 rpm drives with 7200 rpm drives, but if the rpm & sizes are the same, there won’t be any measurable performance loss.
Actors usually pay for professional dialect coaching. Before the practice became common place it was amusing to watch British actors play Americans using terrible accents. I know it applies the other way around, but I’d have a harder time noticing it.
The combination of heat and agitation are needed to shrink fabric (especially wool). Heat makes the normally kinky, twisty, grippy fibers more flexible and looser. Agitation allows the loose fibers to reach other fibers farther away and grab onto them as they cool, pulling them closer, thus shrinking the fabric.
Heat and very careful stretching can somewhat restore the original size, but restoring the shape is harder.
I don’t know why you’re being down voted. I’m I’m on of the cyclist with a huge ass-belly.
I see no evidence that these bike manufacturers are super profitable, so I doubt there is much “massive profiteering”. Good bicycles are a high tech but low volume industry.
I spent 1.2k on a lower-end-good-bike 11 years ago. It’s the best fun per dollar purchase I’ve made in my 60ish year life. I wish I’d spent a few hundred more for an Ultegra group set.
For adding specificity to lamguage. If you are talking about several people, the disambiguation can be handy.
We could have add pronouns that distinguish by size, or age, etc.
The really stupid feature of most indo-european is the arbitrary gendering of most nouns.
