House Season 8 sucks anyway. character development is replaced by stereotypes. can’t believe they named her fucking " chi park " and make her repeat tired old republican clichés instead of having actual backstory

This actually happened to me once. I illegally streamed a show and then this Italian guy Vinnie the Foot blasts through my screen. Nice guy. Asked for a towel, I made him an espresso, we watched movies and smoked cigars til sunrise.
is TPB dead?
so I’m not interested in this conversation but I do need to acknowledge that you’re misusing the term “gaslighting”. it matters. disagreement, or sharing a perspective you don’t agree with, is not gaslighting.
gaslighting refers to a specific form of domestic abuse by which the abuser attempts to control their victim by making them doubt their own faculties of perception, question their grasp reality, and ultimately become dependent on the abuser.
in other words, if you say it was great weather yesterday and i say “what? were you in the park at noon? the weather was so hot!” that’s not gaslighting. that’s having a different experience. likewise if you ask if I went to the park and i say “No”, but i really did go, that’s not gaslighting. that’s called “lying”. lying is not, in itself, gaslighting.
now if you say “but i saw you! you were carrying a green parasol!” and this were true but I went and threw out the green one and got a yellow one and replied “no you didnt, i dont even have a green one, this is my parasol it’s clearly yellow, are you sure you recognized me? maybe you are having some brain damage, let’s make an appointment and get you checked out” that’s getting closer to gaslighting. hey, that’s actually sort of similar to what you said to me, although I dont think you were gaslighting me, i think you were just being a self-righteous american jerk.
I know this is irrelevant to what you were hemming and hawing about with that other commenter and you probably won’t care, but this matters way more to me. please don’t misuse words that we depend on for understanding IPV
Just a few years ago you weren’t downvoted just because someone disagreed with your opinion.
Lol what? What year did you join Reddit? As someone who’s been there since 2008, I promise you that this is nothing new.
Yeah! I always keep Narcan in my desk. And it seems a lot of people know how to use it (literally just plug & push). It’s widely available, given out for free, distributed to broad populations regardless of drug use.
Narcan is one of the biggest revolutions in medical care since the invention of fentanyl.
Find out where you can get one.
okay doctor. can you think of a reason why they aren’t considered for a living donor? besides corruption and malfeasance?
whoa wait a minute. I didn’t realize which comment i was replying to. I read three different articles and found NOTHING stating she relapsed.
I do similar documentation and I can promise you that “minimal abstinence outside the hospital” does NOT mean relapse.
I’m gonna have to ask to see the citation or ask you to delete your comment for misinfo
‘minimal abstinence outside of hospital.’”
I’m not sure why folks seem to think ‘minimal abstinence outside of hospital’ is a smoking gun. That’s pretty much how medical staff should document an alcoholic whose sobriety only began while hospitalized. It means she hasn’t been able to quit drinking!
When has that happened?
Yes, I read the article three times over, trying to chase down false info someone posted in here. His offer is irrelevant. The prognosis was not good enough for him to donate. They only included it in the article for the melodrama. It’s nothing more than an “I would die for her!” moment. Well, I’m glad the medical board did not condone assisting him with suicide.
Lying about substance use to a confidential healthcare provider is not going to do you any good. If you have drank so much that you are having liver failure, they will know you are lying. If you haven’t drank that much, what’s the purpose of lying? To perpetuate the addiction?
I assume you were not getting a transplant? The risks of regurgitation during surgery is in no way comparable to the risk of relapse in someone with hx alcohol use disorder in early remission. Addiction is a terrible beast. I am sad that she died too, but we have to blame the systems of addiction, not the medical board.
I believe this is FALSE:
[she] relapsed into drinking while on the transplant list,
Where does it say this? I reread it 3 times. That’s a huge part of the story and not one you should just make up!
Giving a donor liver to an alcoholic, who only quit drinking upon diagnosis? Hell no. There are people with 5+ years who still worry about relapsing. A year is a start. Being forced to quit? I’d have wished her good luck if they gave the liver, but the person who dies instead of her?
I’ve watched alcoholics die of liver failure. It is a horribly sad thing. But sobriety is a choice, and you don’t get to go back in time to make it. I’m not sure why this article is spinning this as cruelty from the transplant board instead of maybe, just maybe, highlighting the destructive role that alcohol plays in society. I wonder if a booze company pays their bills or something.
Poor California. Looks like a giant pants load.
looks awesome. gonna have to search for a URL
I wonder if you wonder why there’s so many normies getting radicalized right at the same time
Lemmy uses a Karma system too though…
S4-5 were a weird situation. I forget which one, I think 4, but there was a writer’s strike when it was made so they had to scramble to wrap up the plotline. And didn’t do a great job. There’s also an explanation for the weird plot development point later in S5 if you look up what the actor was doing IRL. You’ll know what I’m talkin about when you see it.
