  • Jumping a turnstile and taking a physical, actually scarce resource is not comparable to duplicating a digital, artificially scarce resource.

The train requires ongoing maintenance and can only hold a finite amount of people. Taking the train seat for free takes away something from another person. Downloading media does not use any ongoing resources, and does not take anything away from another consumer.

Comparing the morality of physical goods to digital goods are not really a good comparison specifically because of the artificial scarcity brought on by making something digital to try to make it more expensive doesn’t map to the real scarcity of physical goods.

  • the parent can always give the baby to the foster care system once it’s born, so their obligation would be limited to 9 months total.

That argument entirely overlooks the physical and mental changes that accompany pregnancy that persist well after the baby is delivered. Forcing the child bearing person to give up 9 months of their life for something they don’t want or won’t keep is awful alone, but the possible complications and life long issue that can come with it should make it unreasonable to force someone to go through that unwillingly.

As you surmises, this is about power and punishment, not rights. Rights are just a convenient smokescreen for the autocratic control of women.

  • An Israeli strike targeting a Hamas commander in the densely populated Jabalya refugee camp in northern Gaza has left catastrophic damage and killed a large number of people, according to eyewitnesses and medics in the enclave.

Israel is a terrorist state, and they’re so blood thirsty for Hamas commanders that they’re bombing fucking refuge camps.

And they wonder what drives support for Hamas? Jk, no they don’t. Israel knowsthey support Hamas because of Israel’s actions, and Israel leans into it to give them excuses to marginalize and remove Palestinians from their land one way or another.

I don’t support Hamas, but supporting Israel is unconcionable, and has been for years. But with so many things these days, the authorizations are going full mask off…
