Technically assembly is a human-readable, paper-thin abstraction of the machine code. It really only implements one additional feature over raw machine code and that’s labels, which prevents you from having to rewrite jump and goto instructions EVERY TIME you refactor upstream code to have a different number of instructions.
So not strictly the bunch of bits. But very close to it.

Your game will actually likely be more efficient if written in C. The gcc compiler has become ridiculously optimized and probably knows more tricks than you do.
If reddit hadn’t locked their API behind absurd paywalls, it would have been a cool project to try to make a browser plugin that gives accounts a “credit score” based on the factors you’ve been looking at, in order to let users quickly judge how likely an account is a bot.
It could let people adjust the metrics it uses to calculate that score in the settings, so even if it becomes popular enough for bots to start trying to game the system, people can adapt their scoring metrics themselves and share config profiles that they think are more effective at rating bots.
Might be something cool to see for activitypub/fediverse/lemmy accounts, but with the data available varying by instance it might be a little harder to calibrate a “catch-all” scoring config

I think I know what you mean. It’s like the Internet has allowed us to share how fucked up each and every corner of the world is and it aggregates the worst of it and puts it on full display. So now I can’t really feel anything when I see headlines as awful as this, I just turn into an unfeeling psychopath. Luckily my moral brain and my feeling brain are different, and the moral brain still wants to do something about this injustice, however I can.

Waste of nuclear power plants is the most well-regulated specifically because of the anxiety surrounding it. The environmental waste of fossil fuel burning is MORE radioactive than the environmental waste of nuclear power plants. The most potent waste of nuclear plants is contained in a small enough volume to place in concrete casks, submerged in large pools of water (which blocks enough of the radiation to make it lower than background levels), and stored on-site under constant monitoring.
If you’re worried about waste, you should be championing nuclear power, not shunning it.
If you’re worried about long-term storage, we have MUCH more time to find a solution for dealing with the contained waste from nuclear power than we do to avert the environmental catastrophe that’s resulting from us continuing to spew carbon dioxide into our atmosphere.
And if you’re wondering what the biggest danger actually is, it’s the construction of the plants. Which is a uniform risk across all types of power plants, not uniquely high for nuclear.
It’s perceived as dangerous but it’s much safer than any other form of electricity production. It’s just more expensive because we don’t have the construction capacity to just build all the nuclear infrastructure we would need without a serious premium. But once they’re running, nuclear shakes out to be cheaper than undoing the climate damage we caused by saving money with fossil fuels
