You just reminded me there actually was a browser called Torch that could download torrents like a normal download. It was basically just Chrome with a built-in torrent client.

I remember trying it out when it first came out in 2012. It never caught on and looks like the last release was in 2020.

Only 3.6% inflation. Not great, not terrible.

PIA is the best for torrents. It is $79 for 39 months which is $2.03/mo and they have port forwarding. That’s less than half of pretty much every other provider.

I have had 3 clients (one for a specific tracker, one for everything else, and an extra seedbox) going 24/7 for years with no problems. No complaints about the speeds either. I frequently saturate full gigabit on both downloads and uploads.

I don’t understand why you want to be wrong so badly. What do you even gain from that? In this case using the wrong word isn’t even just wrong it’s objectively harmful but for some reason you want to keep doing it anyway? Why?

As for who it’s hurting: everyone. Pedophila literally has nothing to do with rape. It is a disorder. It’s estimated it effects as much as 3% of the population. The vast majority of those people have never done anything wrong. They were simply born that way. The more people conflate the medical term with crimes the less likely pedophiles are going to seek help or treatment. Nobody wants to risk being outed as part of the most hated group of people on the planet.

If you want to actually help children instead of being angry the best course of action is to destigmatize the disorder so people can get counseling without fear of ruining their lives. Forcing people to bottle up their feelings/urges/etc. does not lead to good outcomes.

I’ve had to explain this so many times. The majority of molesters are not pedophiles and the majority of pedophiles are not molesters. Pedophilia is a disorder, one that people suffer from at that. There is a (almost certainly) sizable group of pedophiles who have never actually done anything wrong but are caught in the crossfire of anger and therefore can’t seek help/treatment.

You are literally saying this on Lemmy. A piece of software that is developed for free using other software/tools that are free, and run on servers that are hosted by others for free. Most open source projects work this way. People are fully capable of doing things because they want to. Not everything needs to be profit-driven.

If we all did this, what would happen is there would be way less slop and lazy cash-grabs. Because the only people left making things would be the ones who are actually passionate and believe in what they do.

Just buy them on eBay. Why does it matter where they come from? Again, four of them have to die before it’s no longer worth it. It’s extremely unlikely you’d be that unlucky.

Personally I have 15 drives in my NAS, all of them were bought used and they’ve been running 24/7 for 4+ years without issue. Originally I expected to lose at least one per year but they just keep chugging along. All of them have at least 40k power on hours, with the oldest 3TB ones having over 80k (9+ years)

I use unRAID so if/when one does die it’s as simple as pulling out the dead one, popping in a new one, and letting it rebuild itself.

Especially for hard drives. 8TB SAS drives are down to about $45 a piece.

Brand new enterprise-grade 8TB drives are more around $180 new. Meaning as long as you have redundancy (which you should anyway) then you can lose four used drives before it stops being worth it. Not to mention drives get cheaper so if your $45 drive dies 2 years from now you could probably replace it for $35 etc.

Try to generate any higher and you’ll get very weird and ugly results.

Stable Diffusion in particular has this issue with limbs. People have 2 arms at 512x512? Surely they must have 4 arms at 1024x1024! That’s just math.

Arch and EndeavourOS are the same thing. There is no functional difference between using one or the other. They both use pacman and have the same repos.

Weird. I’ve had a Pi-Hole + Unbound running on a Pi Zero since 2018 and it’s never had any issues. I expected the Zero to kinda suck but it has been nothing but smooth sailing. It gets USB power from my router and even if my router reboots the Pi also auto reboots itself.

I do next to no maintenance on it and it just keeps on chugging along. Maybe once every six months or so I SSH in and do a pihole -up and that’s it.

Same with Cox, the default is 1.25 TB. I pay extra for unlimited and use around 7 TB per month. Haven’t heard any complaints for the 2 years I’ve had them. I have a feeling the threshold is something like 8 or 10 TB but I’d rather not find out.
