I like the ‘ground up’ approach they mention that doesn’t rely on insecure ‘adversaries’. I’ll check it out soon.

It’s true (and it feels a bit dusty), but it’s still meeting my needs. I hope it’ll get picked up again or perhaps another project will replace it.
I installed a custom launcher that’s close to the stock one on my Pixel 3 specifically to make it possible to remove the Google Search widget. Now I have a Firefox widget that points to DDG.
If any are interested, the launcher is Lawn Chair, and it can be installed via F-droid.
Greedy bastards. All they care about is the dough.
One cool thing is that the comments are self documenting. I read the program earlier and it’s quite clear what it does. Excellent accomplishment, dear colleague!
The usage described by small44 is an excellent way to use social media. Real life hobbies and interests bring personal fulfillment, and using social media as a tool for exploring those interests is smart, not dumb.
I don’t blame him for not wanting to travel. Airplane safety is a real concern these days.
There are some informative answers elsewhere, however, I noticed a gap between the comments and my expectations, bidet-wise: here’s a link to the relevant SNL Bidet sketch: https://piped.video/watch?v=zQx-ZbSQSBM&t=0. Enjoy
There are some good ideas in this comment, but I’d like to counter that the cautionary tales are an instigating factor in implementing safety for new tech. The wealthy few shouldn’t get to blindly and unilaterally decide the future of all through careless and unrestricted development of world-altering tech.
If we keep doubling, will I eventually be a person on the tracks? There are a finite number of people, so eventually I would be, right? So, passing the buck would be equivalent to handing my fate to a stranger.
OTOH, if there are an infinite number of people, then this thought experiment is creating people out of thin air. Do these imaginary people’s rhetorical lives even matter?
Either way, it seems better to kill 1 person at the start.
Did somebody say fire sale?
This is something that makes me sad. Stallman and Raymond were heros to me when I was starting out 20 years ago. I guess it goes to show that people are flawed no matter how talented.
This is a good method. I love technology, but tech companies have become increasingly icky. Trends over the last decade have finally soured me on Google. I just can’t justify using or buying their services.
Also your spine, tailbone, piriformis, hamstrings, and psoas muscles. Cars are bad for your back.
Hi ‘Brian and so is my wife’
I’m Spartacus
Oh my, so unfortunate
There are lots of good answers here. I wanted to add that I had a similar experience. It felt like 10 or 15 years ago, Musk could do nothing wrong. Electric cars? Yes. Space? Yes. Mars? Yes. Futuristic public transit? Sounds great. These were (and are) good goals with human species survival in mind.
His big ideas haven’t fully materialized, which is understandable. It’s upsetting, though, to watch him act like Trump. He can’t admit when he’s made a mistake. He must be right. We see him make an ass of himself over and over and we can’t help but see him as a would be fascist, an oligarch, or at least a corrupt capitalist pig.
Now, he’s criticizing AI over safety concerns. I don’t disagree, but it’s clear he doesn’t give two shits about that. He’s just upset that he lost control. He’s a narcissist. That’s why he’s disliked.
Good one. No risk, no reward, right?
Thanks for posting, it’s good to read my Neovim news here.
