Yeah I believe you’d have to do it per account. I also think any clients that implement filtering “globally” are bound to cause confusion in users who will forget that they blocked on one account and wonder why they can’t find it on another.
Memmy doesn’t even seem to have a centralized place to see blocked communities yet, so I think that would need to be implemented first.
I too browse All but am not interested in quite some of the communities that pop up from time to time. But in my experience, just tapping on the community and blocking it seems to do what you’ve requested. Is that not working for you?
Edit: one related request I’d like to sneak in, is to add “Block Community” to the burger menu for the post. Currently it only has Block User, which forces us to go into the community first in order to be able to block it.
I notice the improvements regarding zooming/tapping (thank you), but I’d like to report what seems to be a bug.
It seems like the app is only loading low-quality images in some cases. I just noticed it after seeing a post on https://lemmy.world/c/animalswithjobs@lemmy.world. Following onto the community I saw that on every post there the image is low-quality, it’s even hard to read the captions in some cases. Tapping on the share button shows them in the low kilobytes in size.
So far that’s the only community I’ve seen the problem on, though. I’ll report back if I notice it elsewhere, but I’m not sure how to confirm it’s an isolated problem or if there is something I can toggle to change the behavior.
For me the biggest highlight is the navigation bar swipes support. This is what Apollo did best in my opinion and I’m glad Memmy started to have it as well. Thank you!
Data caps are everywhere, I’m not sure why you’d think they’re a thing of the past. I believe the scenario is more like “you’re lucky if your plan doesn’t have caps” instead.
1.5T/month is uncomfortable though. One of my VPN services has a 1T/month softcap (speed drastically reduces after that) and it’s usually fine for my household, but one person going crazy on YouTube rabbit holes or us binging something on Netflix, pushes that limit fast.
Terrible scenario, but unfortunately I think there’s too much money involved for the right thing to be done and this kind of service getting the treatment it should have.
