When you put out photos of yourself on the internet you should expect anyone to find them and do whatever they want to them. If you aren’t expecting that, then you aren’t educated enough on how internet works and that’s what we should be working on. Social media is really bad for privacy and many people are not aware of it.
Now if someone took a picture of you and then edited it without your consent, that is a different action and it’s a lot more serious offense.
Either way, deepfakes are just an evolution of something that already existed before and isn’t going away anytime soon.
Unfortunately, as much as I like and use firefox on both pc and mobile, chrome and chromium based browsers dominate the market. It doesn’t help that they come pre-installed in both cases.
I wish it was 600 when it came out. In Europe it was 900€ and still is in many places, although it can be found around 800€.
As for features around the same price, for example Samsung s24 offers 7 years of software support compared to 4 at most I guess from Sony and 1 generation newer snapdragon.
But the s24 has several drawbacks for me: shitty bloated software likely with e-fuse blown if u try to root it, larger screen (6.2"), crappy underscreen fingerprint sensor(I love side-mounted capacitive), no jack, no sd.
I guess I will be stuck with the s10e for little while longer.
Kinda pricey when you look at what competition offers in that same range
It was the last <6" flagship smartphone. Not sure what to replace my s10e with. The battery is failing and I didn’t get any security updates in a year. I could unlock the bootloader and put a custom rom on, but that blows the e-fuse in the SoC so bye-bye decent camera and possibly mobile banking too
Meh, I was actually planning on getting a zenfone, but the limited software updates kinda put me off
They also fail the jerry rig durability test. They are very bulky too.
I am not sure, possibly not. Of course this isn’t the ideal scenario, this is why port forwarding is still recommended, but you probably still get away without using it, if you download mostly freeleach and popular torrents. That way you can 1:1 the ratio during the download.
You can connect to them though. Peers that have their ports open can allow seeders to connect to them
You came here asking if a vpn config is outrageous. And it may be for you, but it’s also probably the only option for that specific provider as they can’t get their own client onto the locked down apple store.
You can continue using your devices, but don’t expect people to give you solutions left and right as you are not using an open “ecosystem”, so sometimes there is no (easy) solution. All people did was suggesting a better approach that will give you a lot less headaches and you took it personally…
Beep boop ah shiet… They done got me this time… runs away leaking oil and steam
Not all bots are bad, the piped bot is nice and there are others too
You should join some private trackers then. I am consistently getting 100+MB/s on many torrents from such trackers. That is of course on gigabit fibre and proper port forwarding configured.
Mall has security cameras
Live shouldn’t be used in a home setup anyway unless for something where interaction is required, like a teams call or twitch stream. Anything else can take a delay for the sake of preserving the meaning.
Unfortunately you’ll be waiting for a while. SSDs were at the lowest last year to the point that manufacturers were almost losing money. So they reduced production. We will only see the prices going up from now, at least for a while.
Not all IoT is bad… If you decide to get some cloud IoT and keep it on the main network that’s on you, but you could have a separate vlan or even a separate protocol like zigbee and z-wave to secure these devices and control them locally with home assistant. It might not be good enough for highly sensitive enterprise environments, but more than enough for average Joe who’s not being targeted by APTs or espionage
Me too, I did most of my redditing on the phone. So the only redditing I do these days is when on desktop looking for various hardware recommendations, cause unfortunately I don’t know how to search lemmy that well
No different than the Amazon Echo devices, Google Assisstant hardware and other such devices being sold at a loss just to squeeze all that juicy data.
And people willingly put these spyware always on mic devices in their homes.
We need more awareness on privacy…
