Thanks for that, I sincerely appreciate it. It can get frustrating at times, but I try to think of it as more of a challenge.

I wasn’t aware you could do that. I obviously, didn’t give him root access, but I also didn’t lock it down enough to prevent him from still breaking it. This sounds like a good quick solution.
The Evercade look really cool, and his birthday is coming up, so it is tempting. Does it allow you to add custom roms or create your own carts?
I’m all for letting him tinker. With Retro Arc I was able to export the configuration and import it back in when had messed it up. However, it has other issues many around the controller, that would cause issues on reimport. He would get too frustrated with it. I’ll definitely check out Open Emu and see if that has a better experience. Thanks!
I’ve played around with a few of them. I’ve found LM Studio the most robust and user friendly.
That’s why I have multiple accounts on platforms. One for professional stuff and one for personal.
When used as a noun a fart refers to “an expulsion of intestinal gas1” or “An emission of wind from the anus; an instance of breaking wind2”. So, I would say no it is not because it is defined as leaving the body. While in the body it is flatus which is gas in or from the stomach or intestines.

This guy sounds like a text book narcissist. The worst thing you can do is tell a narcissist they are a narcissist. It will do nothing and will only make them double down. The best thing you can do is cut them out of your life.
I had a similar situation when I was in my 20s. Friend I had that I’ve known since highschool would always make remarks about how I got so lucky with my job. Because I was making decent money (more than him) without a degree and he was an engineer. It didn’t matter that I worked my ass off and put in thousands of hours, I was lucky.
If I would ever push back or say something he would just double down. I couldn’t bring up the fact that I didn’t have parents that paid for everything while I was in school, so I had to work and go to college at the same time. I finally realized that was just the way he was going to be, so I limited contact with him. However, his comments never went as far as what you are describing. So, I think you’re doing the right thing by just blocking him.
I highly recommend reading the book Emotional Vampires. It teaches you about the different personality types you’ll run into in the working world and how to deal with each type (when you can’t just avoid them). I wish I had read it 20 years ago.
As someone who has to use Azure DevOps for work, I can safely say GitHub is safe. Microsoft put so much effort into while Azure DevOps seems like an after thought to them now.
I would consider what my company is doing right now as board line abuse. They’ve done two rounds of layoffs this year, but the amount of work as not been reduced in the slightest. So everyone is overworked and scared of saying anything in case there is another round of layoffs. Of course this is also having a ripple affect where long-term hardworking employees are jumping ship.
I currently have a backlog that is four years long. That was when I had a team working for me. Now I’m the only person on the team and not a week goes by when I don’t get ask what the status of XYZ is. Or have 2-3 more “high priority” things added to my backlog.
The only thing I can even think is some super fucked up case of Munchausen Syndrome by Proxy. That or just pure evil.
In this case your family comes first
This is a great point. I’ve already decided to get out of Texas because of my family. For the longest time I refused to move because I felt like that was giving up. Especially since my district was pretty well split 50/50. However, the things that have happened over the last year have made me loss all hope. And there is no way in hell am I raising my daughter in a state that would put a bounty on her reproductive rights. What type of parent would I be if I didn’t do what was best for them?
Sincerely, thanks. I think I just needed to hear someone else say what you said.
I’m sorry you had to work for a place like that, but glad to hear you got out of it. I seriously cannot believe people who own/run companies can sleep at night.
I work as a consultant so I’m always dealing with different customers. We had one client who operates payday loans. I refused to do any work for them and thankfully my company didn’t argue when I said I couldn’t morally work with them.
That said, I have a child with autism and I’m spending tens of thousands of dollars a year on getting him the help he needs. My companies insurance sucks and I saw a job posting at Raytheon I was a perfect fit for. I’m still conflicted on if I should apply just to get better insurance and help my family.
I grew up in the 80s and 90s in catholic house, so all I really knew about her was she ripped up a picture of the pope on SNL. I wasn’t familiar with her music at all. Then around 2001 I went to a Dropkick Murphys concert and before they came on stage they played The Foggy Dew by The Chieftains. I had never heard this song before and I remember being absolutely enamored by the ghostly vocals and having no idea it was her singing. 20+ years later I still get chills listening to it.
And for those who haven’t heard it - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=keWnPZOd2cw
Interesting perspective. It seems popular now for people to dismiss him as someone got more attention than they deserve. Which may be true, but like you mentioned that has more to do with the media and law enforcement not knowing what to do with him.
There is no doubt that the attention he received helped his later career. But it’s not like he just rode those coat tails. His books were informative and entertaining. Not something many can pull off. And while Know2Be is boring ass cyber training, I’ve seen much worse products on the market.
Your article makes me wonder if he has the resources and support of a Steve Jobs or Bill Gates, would things have been much different for him.
Also, FYI, the URL link in your comment didn’t work for me. I had to copy the link and extract the URL from it. I’m using the Connect app on Android.
Seems like there was an article about it in every edition of 2600 all through the late 90s.
Meat is generally classified as light and dark. Red meat is part of the dark classification. It’s just that beef has a higher concentration of myoglobin than chicken legs so it appears redder. Pork is in-between which is why it appears pink.
And while cows don’t move much, just standing requires them to use a lot of muscles. Which is why you’ll hear about veal farms doing horrible things like chaining calves to the ground so they don’t develop their muscles. Which in turn causes less myoglobin which makes their meat whiter.
