Yeah! Thats definetly a step in the right direction. Programs like that will help ease the transition towards a new system as technology continues advancing.
Now we just need more countries/people to jump on board lol

I see where youre comming from & also think its important to support artists I like, and I do. I think both AI and artists can coexist & serve different purposes.
Something like this, using AI for a banner, is using a tool for people to create something they couldnt/wouldnt before. It doesnt mean I’m not going to buy a cool print or painting from an artist I like.
& I think its cool to have something that aggregates information and makes it accesible and easy to work with for the masses. Its messed up that it is currently controlled by corporate interests, but there are also people working on FOSS ai. Its this kind of snapshot of humanity in its current state, that I think goes beyond any particular artist/writer/person.
I get being worried about it taking jobs, but I think new ones will spring up to take their place.
(Or really optimistically maybe well see some sort of radical change that will make the concept of ‘earning a living’ obsolete, like UBI or something)
Edited to add: as a writer, people who buy my writing wouldnt just use ai to replace me. If anything it can supplement my work by making it easier for fans to make fanart & help build hype around the universe and characters that I created.
Yo db dont let these haters get you down. I think it looks like a really cool project and love the idea of a shifting banner than anyone can contribute prompts to. I also love the idea of backgroud details being influenced by various metrics of the community.
AI is a tool (just like photoshop, electric lawn mowers, and combustion engines). Anyone who thinks its replacing artists are really underestimating the editing needed to produce something good from AI generators. And this is comming from a writer who loves how much AI has helped with various parts of the process.
Thats so sad, especially as someone who regularly tries to find small forums like that. But i always have such a hard time finding them unless i already know the site name :(
Its so hard now for a regular person to find content made by other people without it being tarnished by the profit motive. Forums are all pretty much on reddit or dead. Even a good blog that isnt just seo trash is hard to find now days. Social media sites are mostly influencers trying to sell products and attract followers.
I just wanna see the cool stuff other humans are doing and thinking without ads and low effort garbage 🥺
Sounds like a really cool project, sadly i dont have much knowledge to contribute. Still, what kind of issues have you run into? Any specific errors or problems?
Lol it was an interesting peak into the depravity of the human psyche 😅
And cannabonsai is super fun! You prune the cannabis kind of like a traditional bonsai tree. Its fun because you can get a complete look in a few months compaired to the years that traditional bonsai takes. It also works really well as a way to keep a graphed mother plant with multiple strains.
I was gonna share a pic of my plant but I cant figure out how to add pictures in my comments that actually show up… so heres a link to some pics :)
I think what people want is very specific, well curated, and active communities about uncommon interests. Things like a whole community that is just 30-35year old redheads wearing cat ears and cleaning their shower in yellow striped thigh highs or something equally as weird and specific.
Like i remember stumbling across a community on reddit that was all about sewing felt vaginas/butts into stuffed animals so people could take their relationship with their favorite plushie to the next level. The community was shockingly active and full of discussion.
Things like that take time and lots of active users to become a thing. Lemmy isnt quite there yet. Same with other kinds of niche interests that havent quite set up shop here yet (for example there are cannabis communities, but nothing specifically for bonsai cannabis)
I think samsung is going with the year as the name now. They skipped to s20, but then have going with s21 s22 s23 etc.
I think people like watching things they can relate to / fantasize about doing.
So i would think old people would enjoy watching old people, at least some of the time. Kinda like 30 something moms who are really into dad bods. Or all the milf porn some middle aged dudes like.
Oooo That makes sense, thanks for explaining :) hopefully it gets patched soon, im sad i didnt get to see whats going on in Winnipeg lol
I think the link to communities needs to be !c/winnipeg@lemmy.ca
The way yours is written makes causes my app to search for a user instead of a community.
Edit: Nevermind, that format also didnt work, sorry :(
I also love sitting in my garden (really more of over grown weeds that look pretty and flower sometimes). I like having little fires and just listening to the breeze. It really is so special to have a outdoor space where i can just be.
Just in case you don’t already know: On most apps you can type in your instance instead of selecting one from the drop down menu. Im on a small instance too and it took me a week or so to figure it out last month lol
Lmao i could see that becomming a popular community. I would love reading peoples funny farting in public stories
thanks for the heads up, ill change that
update: I tried removing them, but it made it so the links no longer worked for me, so I put them back
Hmmm I am more of a sci-fi person, but I’ve definitely still seen some threads talking about fantasy books. I’m guessing you’re already on the main book communities like !books@lemmy.ml !literature@beehaw.org ? They are pretty active and I do see discussion on threads talking about fantasy books. There is also the fantasy community !fantasy@lemmy.ml – which does admittedly have pretty low traffic (though, you could be the change you want to see…). I found one niche community that was very recently made !cozyfantasy@wayfarershaven.eu
I get how hard it can be to find active book reading communities & wish I had more suggestions in the fantasy realm. If you have a specific sub genre in mind, search for it or maybe even make a community for it. I was surprised to find a few different scifi sub genres already had active communities on lemmy & even recently made communities are growing fairly quickly with the new users.
Good luck finding your next page turner & lmk if you want sci-fi recs :)
Edit: to add and un-add exclamation points
What genres are you looking for? There are a couple good communities, but youre right, not nearly as big or as niche as most subreddits. Though ive found the reccomendations to be higher quality when i do see them.
Im having the exact same issue. Im keeping bith apps on my phone atm so if one has issues I can hop on the other one
I would think so. Unless there’s another bald man with musk beef lol
