When I tried it, the integration was pretty awful. Photos were difficult, and it only showed messages from the current session, not from all time. Searching or replying to a message from yesterday wasn’t possible. Maybe it has gotten better?

Your second point is exactly why I got on the beeper waiting list ages ago. It has been a game changer being able to text from my pc for the last 6 months or so, and I’m hoping it comes back… mine currently isn’t receiving messages.

I use beeper so that I am able to respond to messages from my pc while I work. I have iPhone because it is what my company uses, but I absolutely need a pc for the software I use.

I wish apple would just open up a web-based messenger, but then they wouldn’t be able to force people to buy Macs for everything to play nicely together.

I think that it’s fairly safe to say that nobody uses a gaming laptop on their lap when gaming, particularly mouse and keyboard players. I only use mine when I travel for work, and I bring a proper keyboard and mouse with me.

That said, I do occasionally use it on my lap. When not gaming, the heat produced is pretty low and it works just fine. It also has small intake vents on the side.
