If your goal is to act as a deterrent then harsher sentences do not work, at least according to research.
At this point, we think it is fair to say that we know of no reputable criminologist who has looked carefully at the overall body of research literature on “deterrence through sentencing” who believes that crime rates will be reduced, through deterrence, by raising the severity of sentences handed down in criminal courts.
You’re very pretty, but are you fun to spend time with? 🤔
Haha it’s only been a few days. Glad to see you again though! 😆
I mean… if something is illegal but the penalties are low or enforcement nonexistent then it’s more like a recommendation. Fines become a “cost of doing business”.
Is this fictional? I thought that this was actually true from the Social Union in WWII. Maybe in the battle of Stalingrad?
Zoiks! I think we should look for clues…
I think it’s an oversimplification to say that it was never enforced:
I didn’t think women were ever independent in Saudi Arabia, but were basically owned by their closest male relative?

I joined the Democratic party in 2016 just so that I could vote for Bernie in the primaries. Oh well.
For popular stuff I stop seeding when I’ve uploaded 10x the download size. For other stuff I keep it uploading forever.
I think that it’s not always just about harassment, but sometimes just wanting to be left alone?
I’m curious why you think Python is unsuitable. Both of my kids picked up Python pretty easily.
I use Consent-o-matic.
Meh. I lose power every 3 or 4 years on average. A UPS just doesn’t make sense for me. (When I lived in Virginia it was once a month on average, so for sure it made sense…)
This is why having classes in transportation is bad. You are literally in the same vehicle, but companies are trying to convince people to pay more. The only way for this to actually work is to make the cheaper options suck ass.
Airlines have ended up with a business model that depends on them providing bad service.
I wanted to buy music, but a CD that I got in the 00’s had some “protection” so that I couldn’t rip it and listen to it on my MP3 player.
Now, I ripped it from a Linux computer and had no problems, but was so upset that the record companies tried this. I realized that it’s not about right or wrong, but just about power and money.
Godzilla was from 1954!

Definitely worth watching.
Not yet, but I think there may be something to clean up if you keep wearing that uniform…
