Because they can’t see what you’re downloading via direct download especially if it’s over HTTPS. On the other hand, it’s trivial to see everyone’s IP if they download the same torrent you are, then they just send letters to ISPs owning those IPs who then pass it on to you.
As usual with new technology, some jobs go away and new ones appear.

*arr apps still need a tracker. *Arr by itself is useless without working torrent trackers which are becoming fewer and fewer, unless you’re willing to play the private tracker games.

Not all boomers who manually download mp3s transfer them around. I’m one of those “boomers” (I’m in my 30s) that download their mp3s because I like to own my stuff. I then stream it to my devices using a selfhosted media server without transferring anything.

So what if someone believes the earth is flat, let the people hear and decide for themselves. That’s a bedrock of democracy, people are capable of making decisions for themselves. Not you or anyone else has a right to tell them what to believe or filter down the information they get.
