  • I was referring to their former and current selves, which is the reason I used both names. Would you refer to Bruce as Kaitlyn? How is that any less fucked up? Am I supposed to beat around the bush and say “when Kaitlyn was a man” just so I don’t anger the transgender community for daring to use their former name?

Also, stop assuming you think you know what I care about, that just makes you look like an asshole. I was hanging out with multiple people for hours last night that are members of the LGBTQIA+ community…so kindly shut the fuck up 😉

  • Sure, I did something “wrong” intentionally (with ZERO malice intended), I just think it’s ridiculous (and actually kinda funny) how angry people got over it. It’s not like I completely denied their “status” (or whatever) as the opposite gender. I included both names (referring to their former and current selves) because their former gender and current gender are two different identities, correct? You wouldn’t refer to Kaitlyn’s former self as Kaitlyn, would you? She was Bruce when she was a male, so how is that “wrong”? It was like I collectively punched everyone in the metaphorical balls just because they saw a name. It’s like we’re living in the Harry Potter universe and I said “Voldemort”.

I’m accepting of everyone, I was hanging out with a non-binary guy, a queer girl, and another guy, whom I believe was transgender last night for multiple hours. Yet, people read so far into stuff that they assume that you’re on the extreme opposite side of them all because I decided to use the former names of two celebrities when comparing how they looked as their former selves and their current selves.

It seems that (some) people that are members of the “other” (I’m sure I’ll get hate for that as well!) communities outside of Lesbian/Gay/Bisexual community are some the angriest people, I’ve seen it mentioned multiple times from people that are part of the LGB community that there is a rift between them and even they find it quite ridiculous. It’s like the people on the TQIA+ are on the extreme opposite side of the “anti” side, you fuck up and they want to crucify you and deem you as being hateful.

I was also only banned for a day because of that entire conversation, the permaban was because I said “As a guy I appreciate the change” when a woman said she switched from jeans to yoga pants as her daily wear (in a completely different post) 🤣 You can’t even make an “out of line” comment without enraging the powers that be apparently! Imagine being a woman and saying “as a woman, I appreciate the change” when a muscle bound guy said he switched from wearing loose T-shirts to tight t-shirts that show off his muscles. It’s fucking ridiculous.

  • I literally just got permanbanned from BadWomansAnatomy because I made a joke comment saying “as a guy, I appreciate the change” when a woman said she switched from jeans to yoga pants as her daily clothing. My account is 11 years old, I have only ever been banned from two subs, up until about a few days ago when I have received two warnings (one on my main account and one one my porn account) a temp ban, and now a permaban.

The IPO has really made them super heavy handed in controlling what is “acceptable” because they gotta keep that money flowing and keep the board happy!

  • I can understand calling someone their dead name to their face, I never call my friend Sarah Andrew, because I respect her wishes. These are celebrities that are definitely not going to see this and people are getting pissed off about me referring to someone else. Respect is earned, not given freely. I don’t give a fuck if it’s Bradley Cooper, Brad Pitt or Kaitlyn Jenner. It’s like me referring to John Wayne (the actor) as Marion Morrison (his real name) and people flipping shit. Get a fucking grip people.

Hate speech is one thing, but apparently differing opinions aren’t welcomed though, regardless of how they’re stated.

  • Threadripper already accomplished all of this years ago. My TR2970WX has 24 cores/48 threads, 48 PCI-E lanes, and it supports ECC and non-ECC RAM. My AsRock Rack board has BMC support as well.

The Threadripper series was the perfect workstation CPU. I’ve had mine for a few years and it can handle anything I throw at it, it can easily transcode 2-3 4K videos while doing multiple other things.

It wasn’t cheap though, it was like $650 on sale, originally like a grand or so.

  • Q1: No it shouldn’t matter as long as you didn’t import the pool using device names (sda, sdb, etc…). If you’re using labels or UUIDs (the better option for portability sake). If they do happen to use device names, just export the pool and then reimport it on the same system using labels or UUIDs.

Q2: It should work just fine assuming you’re not using device names for your pools

Q3: it’s just as robust as FreeBSD’s implementation. Once again, see the answer to Q1.

Q4: IMO virtualizing your NAS just adds more headaches and performance overhead compared to running it on bare metal.

Out of my years running TrueNAS on and off, I’ve always had issues with it when doing anything other than using it purely as a storage box. I tried 24.04 a few weeks ago, thinking that most of the issues I had originally when SCALE was launched would be resolved. They weren’t. So I went back to Arch w/OpenZFS…again
