WW3 has been underway for about a decade now, it’s just being fought through cyberwarfare, propaganda, and proxy wars.

The incentives aren’t there for Apple. It makes money selling you a product that you trust. If that were violated, it’s a threat to their business. It’s Google, Meta, and Microsoft that make their money collecting your data to target you with ads.

How is input lag for the MacBook? Friend of mine said it was bad enough that he couldn’t seriously use it that way. Not sure if others feel that way too. That would be my biggest use case for it…. Use it for work and having a massive screen.

The original question was whether legally they could toss his ballot if he died before Election Day. I think the state probably has the means to locate a ballot.

Yeah — I maybe cook 1-2 meals a week, and that usually involves some prepackaged ingredient that saves me time. The rest is quick like oatmeal, toast, etc, or I’m just ordering takeout. I don’t have the energy to cook a lot, nor do I want to spend my free time doing it after work.

Why does ml crew defend modern day Russia? Modern day Russia is not a communist country. I’m confused why any communist would defend the USSR in general, especially after Stalin took power. Makes no damn sense to me.

Memory safety for one. C is very memory unsafe and that has been the source of a great, great number of software vulnerabilities over the years. Basically, in many C programs it has been possible to force them to execute arbitrary code, and if a program is running with root privileges, an attacker can gain full control over a system by injecting the right input.

I have very limited knowledge of rust, but from what I remember writing memory unsafe programs is nigh impossible as the code won’t really even compile. Someone else with more knowledge can probably give more detail.

Yeah - I never would buy a German car again in my life. Had a VW Jetta that died at only 130k miles. I’ve watched friends with BMWs get stuck with $4k repair bills with only 40k miles. The only reason they sell these days is because of this perception that they’re “luxurious.”
