  • I have a proxbox with a R5 4600G even under extreme loads the stock cooler is fine. Honestly once prox is setup you don’t need a GPU. The video output of proxmox is just a terminal (Debian) so as long as things are running normally you can do everything through the web interface even without the gpu. I do highly recommend a second GPU (either a G series CPU or a cheap GPU) if you want to try proxmox GPU passthrough. I’ve done it and can say it is extremely difficult to get working reliably with just a single GPU.

  • I’ll freely admit to skimming a bit but yes proxmox can run trunas inside of it. Proxmox is powerful but might be a little frustrating to learn at first. For example by default proxmox expects to use the boot drive for itself and it’s not immediately clear how to change that to use that disk for other things.

The noctua dh-15 is overkill for that cpu btw unless you’re doing an overclock which I wouldn’t recommend for server use. What’s your plans for the 1060? If using proxmox you’ll want to get one of the “G” series AMD CPUs do that proxmox binds to the apu and then you should be able to do gpu passthrough on the 1060.

  • I’ve been using Kagi for 3 months now I think? And I’ve found it to be extremely useful for research…to a point, my only real issue is that after the first or so series of results it either doesn’t offer anything further or just no longer is showing relevant results to my search. Honestly though I’ve been very happy with Kagi and continue to pay the 10/month but if I do find something even better I’d happily switch. I’m not married to any particular search engine (well …least not to the extent of using Google services).

If you’re skeptical just give it a try I think they have a trial system in place.

  • Absolutely min things to swap Gonna need a battery of some kind 3 phase induction motor (probably) Motor speed controller Some sort of battery charger Big inverter for big motor An ecu-like thing to control everything Specifics about how to make this all work in a vehicle will depend wildly on which vehicle. Some basically can have these things bolted on, others require special assemblies to get the power to the wheels somehow.

An ev swap can be (relatively) cheap and simple or wildly expensive and difficult just depends on your goals.

Most of the parts I mentioned are available as off the shelf components and sometimes even as a swap kit.

  • If you want to automate look into the “Wikiarr” but to answer your question I think many of us are just data hoarders. I try to delete stuff I’ve watched but I also tend to keep stuff that I’ve had trouble finding good versions of. I am also building a large music library (currently around 200-250gb) and that’s entirely around avoiding crappy streaming services. Most of this collection I either already owned (used to rip ipods id repair for people) or used soulseek/other tools to build.

Personally I’d replace that 10 year old drive as it’s probably limited on remaining life even if only lightly used.
