I imagine that is the case, however they could refund it given the situation.
I get the feeling they won’t allow refunds.

Ah I see, that’s unfortunate then. For what its worth, I still think the bot is a great idea for discoverability and bridging the two services together! I hadn’t seen it before since I usually have bot users muted and happened to see this comment chain while logged out.
I’ve given it a follow from my Mastodon account since I do tend to miss quite a few cool Lemmy posts it seems, and I think it’ll help me find some communities in general that I’ll want to subscribe to from over here.
I wonder if perhaps wrapping the majority of the text in a spoiler would work. Though I don’t know if that translates over to Mastodon (if not, it might look a bit funky on that side).
And if you really want even more barebones, you can just do git init --bare
into a directory on your VPS, and then git clone user@your.ip.here:path/to/the/directory
and use git as you would normally!
Sometimes the only way out is through :)
Hit escape to enter normal mode, :q
to quit if you don’t have any pending changes, :wq
to save and quit (or Shift ZZ), :q!
if you don’t care about your changes (save without exiting)
If you’re interested in learning Vim, I’d recommend running vimtutor
, which should be present on most systems. But of course, the best way to learn it is to simply use it as much as you can!
Interesting, I will have a look at them - thanks!
The original commenter did mention they had health insurance
Have you found any other decent online-centric banks to switch to? I’ve been wanting to switch away from ONE for pretty much the reasons you listed, but through a basic search I didn’t see anything else to was too appealing to me.
And the 2FA thing is ridiculous, at one point they didn’t actually have the email option (or it was very well hidden) - had a bit of a rough month at some point and wasn’t able to pay my phone bill which got it suspended, I also happened to have my card locked and got kicked out of the app so… I couldn’t unblock my card to pay the phone bill, which I needed to get the 2FA code to login in… Ended up having to reach out to support and they were able to show me how to request a 2FA code over email.
This wouldn’t even be a problem with most sites because I always use TOTP/Webauthn via my Yubikey when I have the option, and for something as critical as my bank account I really do not want SMS/Email to be an option for 2FA (I get why they have it, but I’d like to be able to turn it off for my account).
Ugh, I miss Simple so much. I was alright with ONE until they stripped the virtual card function from pockets… What is the actual point of Pockets now if I have to transfer the money directly back to my main checking area??
Yep, my desktop PC may or may not have one of its SSDs not mounted…
And you really don’t want it to either. That could cause all sorts of privacy issues if you accidentally include private information in the conversation - and as far as I have heard it is harder to remove information from LLMs than it is to “add” information to it.
Also Microsoft’s Tay could adapt itself based on conversations and that went real well…
Ah, you are right - thanks!
In your settings, you can set your preferred languages - since you’re on lemmy.world this link should take you there. You can hold control down to select multiple options if you’re on desktop (and mobile should have a selection box pop up).
Though be sure to keep “undetermined” enabled, otherwise a lot of stuff will vanish. Also note that this only works for posts/comments where people have actually selected the correct language (if someone posts something in German, but marks it as English for example, it will still pop up).
What are your language settings set to in your Lemmy profile? I know if you deselect Undetermined
, it will cause this.
That also being said, most of the comments here are tagged as English, and the comment in your screenshot doesn’t seem like it was tagged as such - weird question, but do you by chance have English deselected?
When I view this post from the feddit.uk instance, I can see all the comments so I don’t think it’s a sync issue, unless they’re all appearing for you now.
Seems like discussion of the version numbers is getting mixed up then. I just logged out of Liftoff and logged back in with zero issues on my instance running 0.18.5.
As you can see in the GitHub link I posted in my previous comment, there’s only one major commit difference between 0.18.4 and .5, which fixes deletions not propagating correctly through Federation when an admin deletes a post who wasn’t a mod of the community (but still an admin of the community’s main instance) in question.
Not sure where the information about 0.18.5 having breaking changes came from. The 0.18.5 release is just the federated deletion fix that was cherry-picked in.
0.19 will definitely have breaking changes though, yes. In the admin matrix group there were quite a few people talking about accidentally leaving their instances on the latest
docker tag which includes all of those breaking changes and no way to downgrade due to the DB structure changes. Maybe you’re hearing about it from them?
I updated my instance to 0.18.5 yesterday and have no problems with any of the apps. Re-logged into Thunder and can see my communities just fine.
Isn’t the whole point of Phillip’s Hue’s devices + bridge supposed to be that it could all be operated locally?
Because Two-Factor Authentication is generally supposed to be under the principle of “Something you have and something you know”, the password being the “know”, and using a TOTP on an app via your phone would be the “have” (the phone).
I suppose if your email is restricted to the something you have/know it’s a bit better, and certainly better than nothing - but not by much.
!selfhost@lemmy.ml and !selfhosted@lemmy.world OP, in case you’d like to cross-post this.
Yep, I modded my switch, dumped the keys and my games and went “Now what?” and after playing via Yuzu on my PC I realized this was the only way I really wanted to play the few Switch games I enjoy.
Every now and then I’ll boot into the stock firmware to play Mario Kart with some friends when they want to play, and that’s it.
