I used to mod two pretty large subs (iirc something like a combined ~400k subscribers) and we had no way to detect ban evasion other than the user being stupid and obviously giving themselves away (eg. “fuck you mods, I’ll just keep making new accounts”). This was fairly recently and I left the site and quit modding about a month after they pulled the API bullshit and booted Apollo and other apps.

So unless reddit added additional tools for mods, your story doesn’t quite add up here.

  • In the Netherlands open faced sandwiches are pretty common snacks kids will make. Slice of bread commonly with toppings like ham, gouda, hard boiled egg, etc. Also peanut butter is a popular topping for bread, though having it with jam is a lot less common than in the US.

A very specifically Dutch thing would be piece of toast with butter and then literally sprinkles on top (like you might put on ice cream). The Dutch eat a shitload of that stuff. Also popular on buttered toast or rusk are little anise seeds coated in sugar, referred to as muisjes.

  • I bet old.reddit is gonna be axed fairly soon. All signs point that way.

    • Killing the free API access and thereby putting most 3rd party apps out of commission
    • The expensive rebrand from pentagram
    • Reddit all but officially announcing they’re going for the IPO finally (plans leaked to the press)
    • Unpopular redesign of the new reddit layout which I assume will push a group of folks back to old.reddit

Also wouldn’t surprise me if RES is killed off in the not too distant future.

Edit: wow that new redesign they just pushed is indeed pretty bad

    Settle down dude.

A big chunk of the comic art people from twitter went there. The art community on Mastodon is very mid. So that’s a big part of why I like Bluesky.

And while I don’t care about following journalists personally, that’s arguably one of the major things people want out of a twitter-like platform. Breaking news.

Threads is much worse for celebrity bullshit.
