There’s a package called molly-guard which will check to see if you are connected via ssh when you try to shut it down. If you are, it will ask you for the hostname of the system to make sure you’re shutting down the right one.

Very usefull program to just throw onto servers.

As a kid, I used to borrow my sister’s games and play them (which I think annoyed her because I always got further than she did…) and it got to the point where they “de facto” became mine and are now somewhere in my games collection.

You know, at this point I’ve been writing YAML on and off for a while now. You’d think I actually understand the syntax by now, but I don’t.

I think it’s because AI has been shoehorned into many areas where it doesn’t belong and can even be dangerous. Probably just a (perhaps justified) kneejerk reaction to that.

However, I can see this being an actual good use of AI, provided the limitations are clearly communicated. Doesn’t look like they’re replacing human volunteers either.

I assume because it’s Peertube, which uses a distributed peer to peer network (like torrenting). It means less bandwidth for the site so it doesn’t have to run adverts to pay for it.

I stepped out of webdev like 5 years ago. Now every time I try to get back into things to work on an open source project or whatever I just give up because I do not understand things.

Everything seems to be based on React which is some kind of magic templating library that does everything? And also dynamically updates thing in response to changes and talks to the server?

I much prefer the days of just using vanilla js to manipulate a DOM and talk to a well defined API.
