It wouldn’t surprise me if Twitter is pushing it due to it being proven that outrage boosts engagement. Facebook has been doing that for years.

Its not weird to you and as you said, nothing untoward is occurring so I don’t see a reason to stop. I wouldn’t share with peers though for obvious reasons. The small-minded would have a field day.
Schadenfreude intensifies.
What’s odd is that they tell you you’re banned for breaking an unnamed rule then invite you to create another account. If it were an offensive username, you’d think they would just force you to change it. What’s the point of banning an account then asking the banned member to create another account?
I would guess maybe that’s what’s causing the issue for you then. If a bunch of bots were doing something using that IP address you may have just got caught up in that. I don’t know how much help reddit’s customer service would be if if there even is an outlet to dispute it, but maybe somewhere in the notice page you’ll find a way to ask for human review.
Are you using a VPN perhaps? Maybe they corralled the accounts coming from a particular IP.
Out of curiosity, how many reddit accounts have you had and were you reprimanded on them? It looks like they’ve just sussed out your other accounts.
Of course, if you happen to have some extra money for donations to creators, please do so. If you don’t have that, try contributing with a review somewhere or recommending the content, spread the word.
Why would you bother unless you feel you’ve taken something from the creator that you feel you need to atone for in some way? If you don’t feel you stole it, you surely don’t owe the creators anything, you deserve the content you attained without payment just the same as someone that paid money for the same content.
It’s reddit, you get what you get. That’s why the majority of us stopped using it.
