I think the tariff should come with a mandate to our domestic car manufacturers. They should have to produce an EV under some cost within a certain amount of time or they are going to cancel the tariff.

A lot of the spam numbers come from the same area code and first 3 digits of my number, makes it really easy to suss out most of the scam calls out. I just hate when they leave a message and I have to go in and delete their message.
I don’t think you can cancel an entire country with a couple months notice after you get bored of it.
I wish I could for work. But stupid corporate policy demands otherwise, Google workspace is so shit.
Could be in the galaxy, but it would be safe to assume out of the solar system by quite some distance.
Masayoshi Son’s business acumen is only matched by Elon Musk.
The article more or less covers it. Asian countries without a credit card culture mostly transitioned to QR because it was easy with minimal equipment changes required. Those with widespread credit cards accept tap and QR (e.g. Taiwan widely accepts QR payments, Google pay, Apple pay, credit cards, and transit cards).
Since the western world has been on credit cards for decades that is the solution that is accepted there with QR payments being almost exclusively in businesses that have a customer base from Asian countries. Even then the US is odd compared to other countries since they never really adopted chip and pin.
Yes they should be allowed to run for Prime Minister, no they shouldn’t be allowed to be a party leader if they refuse to go through the process when given the opportunity.
They actually have the dual USB-A and USB-C key product that is inexplicably missing from the main security key vendors! While I’m not going to replace my perfectly good keys, I was so pissed off when I bought mine and the obvious product was missing from Yubico’s offerings.
I’m so tired of people thinking these “benefits” are a solution to the problems we have today. At best they ease things temporarily for those that receive it, while continuing to allow the grocery corporations to pad their profits by charging way too much. We either need regulation about how much profit can be taken on food (at least on a large list of the types of foods people should be buying), or the addition of significant competition within the space and a complete ban on acquisitions within the sector.
Loblaws literally just announced their quarterly results which included a 9.8% increase in profit year over year. Unless they are claiming that the incrsased profit comes from goods that aren’t food then Weston is lying through his teeth.
Unfortunately for consumers the company cares about their shareholders first and don’t give a shit about those who can’t afford to eat.
Translink spends more maintaining fare gates and the compass card system every year than the entirety of fare evasion per year. But the BC Liberals forced the system on Translink so we are stuck with it now.
Yes, he has always been the insufferable yappy dog of the Conservative party, and we know where he stands with the idiotic drivel that comes out of his mouth and the bad company he keeps. When he ditched the glasses and tried out his new “friendlier” image he toned it down a bit, but the crazy has come back out in the past couple months.
I hate his arrogance, it seems like they are so certain of the next election outcome (or that the electorate will eat this shit up) that he isn’t even trying to hide that he is an asshole.
As far as I understand it the US capital gains inclusion rate is already quite a bit lower than the current Canadian rate. I don’t buy that this small increase is tipping the scales for those already choosing to invest in Canada over the US.
I wouldn’t even call it economic “pressure”. I hit a point about a year ago where I just got tired of being disappointed in restaurant food. Everything is worse: portions, food quality, variety, service, etc. The exorbitant prices are really just the final nail in the coffin when you are easily spending $70 for a night out only to be disappointed half the time.
Oh well, it pushed me to get more into meal prepping so I eliminate eating out when it just isn’t convenient to cook, plus it is healthier.
I’ve never had an issue, and only really once or twice had them try to sell me a credit card and a quick “not interested” completely ends it.
At this point I just expect that any customer service interaction is likely not in my best interest, and treat it with the skepticism it deserves. There just isn’t enough enforcement to trust that laws will protect you, so it is your responsibility to protect yourself.
That means that over and above whatever debts they have, they think the market values the data their users have given them is worth that much. That said, if Google is only paying then $60M/year for access to that data, they are going to need a lot of customers like that to reach $6.4B valuation.
For corporations it is, “Never attribute to malice what can be explained by greed.”
AI has tons of potential but the final decision should come from a person that evaluates the output for correctness. This is a great example of that.
