  • I know that you have put more thought into this topic than I did and you just might be right.

But dude that wallmart analogy misses the point by a mile.
Wallmart kills the small stores by simply undercutting them, this has nothing to do with what meta might do.

And you didn’t really argue my point that people like you and I could and probably would consume meta content if it was federated.
But why would anyone that is part of the fediverse right now jump ship if meta came and went away again?

I damn sure will never create another meta account or use any meta app. Would you?

  • So I have no idea about guns but would you say there is no legislative way to end the fact that the USA is the only first world country with a mass shooting like every other day?

Again I am not arguing for or against any one particular measure or ban.
I don’t know anything about high cap mags or whatever.
But I do know that other countries seem to show a correlation between stricter gun laws and less fatalities by gun.

Or is it your 2nd amendment that stands in the way of effective legislative measures?

It just seems like a problem that should be so easy to solve and as a European it just seems strange that you guys seem to be completely unable to even make improvements.

  • Generally I agree, but one of the things that was actually pretty cool about reddit were the smaller niche subs.
Some of them though were just too niche and small and thus pretty dead even with Reddits huge userbase.

And while I am pretty optimistic in general, I am a bit afraid that it will be harder to find active communities for niche interests if Lemmys userbase were to stay the current size.

But hey let’s stay positive and active here and spread the word and we can grow into the perfect size, which doesn’t necessarily need to be reddit-behemoth size.
