Revenue must be less than the benefit of the losses they’ll get a tax break on.
The system is broken.

Russia could have reason to fake his death, but that would be only to facilitate them killing him in a more gruesome way.
I think this would actually drive shittier quality.
Current models, like the preceding model of physical paper delivery, have a relatively fixed income stream from the subscriber base. They make the same amount of money whether the news day is “Japan Attacks Pearl Harbor” level or whether the most interesting story is that a German Shepherd won the AKC dog show.
Under a service that aggregates and pays a minor amount per click, how does NYT stand out above WaPo? Or Ap or Reuters? Click bait headlines and incomplete stories so they can write multiple and get more clicks, because each click is not worth very much.
I think the better model for NYT et al would be to offer a punch card like option: 10 articles, $15… or whatever. They should have enough data to determine what the average number of articles read is, per subscriber, to determine what the tipping point is, and capture some new pay-as-you go subscribers.
I also don’t see how the jury isn’t sequestered either. I’d imagine there are significant safety concerns and thereby additionally concerns about process integrity.
I don’t disagree with you.
In fact, I fully agree.
And that’s also why their proposal is specifying what. Torahs, etc. Not sure dianetics would make it.
My favorite animal is the frikadellapotomus.
I think the distinction was that the recent burnings were not tied to a political decision or action made by the countries. It was just to be dicks toward Muslim countries.
Lets say the burning was infront of Saudi embassy after the murder of Jamal Khashoggi. That might be allowed under the proposal.
The whole situation is weird, tbh
The proposed law would also prohibit burnings of other specified religious texts.
It’s 95% within minutes. You could probably take an educated guess as to what the 5% will comprise in terms of nationalities that have visa free access to Europe and will not get approval in minutes.
You shouldn’t count on it for last minute trips, but I would suggest that it would be incredibly rare for someone who doesn’t have an established presence/relationship with europe to go last minute. If you do have an established professional or personal relationship that may require a last minute flight booking, pay the 7€ and have an approval on standby for 3 years.
The US requires the same from Europeans via ESTA and Canada requires the same from Europeans via eTA. This is Europe responding in kind to the same burden placed on their citizens.
Th permit process is expected to take on order of hours for most people, and are valid for something like 3 years, unlimited entries.
The US has required the same of Europeans for quite some time now (ESTA waiver).
Edit: looks like they anticipate 95% of cases to be decided in minutes and the rest in not more than 4 days.
Idunno, i had mega lag after hitting enter on a duck duck go search in the address bar.
I was happy with chrome performance. After switching to FF, based on the accolades on Lemmy, I’ve been mostly happy… But fuck if there’s not major lag at times. It isn’t connection related, as I’ve immediately popped over to Chrome for that site and had no issue.
I’m not unhappy with Firefox, but I notice it’s presence, which is not what I want in a browser.
Great, now do the phone browser
It is being reported in Denmark that its being investigated as a murder-suicide.
