    You guys are despicable.

Someone is dead and you’re celebrating it. It was bad when cops killed someone and its bad when cops get killed.

Honestly the abundant lack of morality on lemmy is the worst thing about it

I don’t think most people here are celebrating the fact that a human being died. It’s a terrible thing when people get killed.

But they think they deserve respect because of their occupation, and we know that the truth is the exact opposite. That agency is well known for being particularly criminal. For years, activists have told cops that they should try to clean shop if only to protect their own safety, but that message has always fallen on deaf ears.

“Every Nazi who remains alive will kill women, children, and old folks. Dead nazis are harmless. Therefore, if I kill a Nazi, I am saving lives.” -Lyudmila Pavlichenko

Comparing this guy to a nazi minimizes the Holocaust, unless you truly believe that you, as an american citizen, are as oppressed as a jew in germany during hitlers reign.

Don’t be naive. He’s was quoting comrade Lyudmila. You’re being needless pedantic. Cops murder civilians and enforce an inherently violent system.

Someone is dead and you’re celebrating it.

Two policemen are in critical condition and you’re laughing. You’re laughing. Someone was killed today because of what you did.

Sounds like somebody got what they fucking deserve.

We don’t have a lack of morality. We’re just aware of the role of police in society. They are the oppressors and everyone else is the oppressed.

If you want to lick the boot on your throat that’s your choice. The rest of us just have to celebrate the small victories and hope there are more of them.

Protest is now illegal. You will be brutally bashed by the police and locked up regardless how just the cause.

They are and have always been the blunt instrument with which the state monopoly on violence is maintained and exercised.

We are also subject to random roadside tax extortion based on whatever the fiction of the day happens to be. I would actually prefer the open faced honest corruption of simply being asked for a bribe to go on with my day ala India or Thailand. At least we don’t need to pretend the interaction is anything other than what it is.

People are capable of more than 1 emotion at a time and that doesn’t make any other emotions invalid and it certainly doesn’t make any of the other possible ones people may feel or express “immoral”.

Yes, someone is dead. They were flawed, but so is everyone and their passing is a tragedy to those close to them. Sadness, mourning, and empathy for those who will be most affected by his passing is a valid emotion.

Ryan actively chose a profession dedicated to inflicting violence upon those around them including the deaths of many others. Relief that he is no longer able to cause harm is a valid emotion.

Ryan was unable to stop causing harm to others on his own volition. He likely did it with the best of intentions, but through a steady diet of misinformation and lies he was conned into acting as a violent enforcer of capital. Frustration that this is what it took to prevent him from inflicting further harm is a valid emotion.

The empathy you are demanding with “it’s bad when people get killed” is the same moralistic argument that “it’s good when killing is avoided”. Celebration that Ryan will no longer be causing the deaths of others is a valid (and morally equivalent) emotion.

      Etc.

In short: It’s a good platitude, but it’s a poor moralistic argument, and is a narrow-minded viewpoint. Lemmy isn’t the problem, your lack of empathy for those outside of Ryan’s direct social circle is.

I think this cop represents all the ones that murder people and dogs on a daily basis…Prompting cheers…And if he was targeted there’s a good chance he was one of those cops imo. Too many of them escape the law!

They kill citizens all the time. I’m not going to shed a single tear for someone turning it back on them
