You should probably be way less critical of yourself, if you’re asking me. You’re honestly beautiful. I would love to see more. Thank you for posting this.

I don’t know. I just didn’t have much to do today. Yes, I used to use Reddit. I didn’t really post in places like this, when I did have Reddit, though. How about you? What brings you to this place?

Aw, I understand. It can be pretty bad over there. What was the final straw that made you leave?

I can’t really point to anything specifically, tbh. Reddit just keeps going downhill. Has been for years. It’s also that I’ve started taking my online privacy way more seriously recently, in general. I deleted my Reddit account within roughly a month of deleting (almost) all of my other accounts on platforms that are run for profit. (My Google account’s the last to go, soon.) I do realize that Lemmy’s not perfect in that regard, at least in terms of metadata visible to geniuses with nothing better to do, but that’s not better on Reddit, and Lemmy is federated as opposed to being controlled by an evil corporation like Reddit. Reddit’s stock going public is incomprehensible because they’ve never turned a profit and likely never will. They’re probably working on some long-con to eventually desolve the company and pocket everything, or something, and fortunately that’s none of my business. No point in still being there whenever it finally dies. Fuck Spez.

A military recruiter told me to lose some weight four years ago. I actually ended up gaining some after that. I’m thinking about losing some weight now, just to be more fit.

On the off chance the title isn’t just fishing:

Waist to height is the only metric proven to relate to health (waist less than half your height.) Don’t worry about your looks, at least from this picture it looks like you have a lovely body. I find it healthier mentally to focus on athletic goals and let form follow function, maybe that would work for you too.

Bmi is bullshit. With bmi at 6 feet 4 inches I should be around 150 which then I can put my hand under my ribs. My doctor was even concerned and want to put me on Insure because of how I looked and yet going off of bmi the number was fine.

150 is underweight (barely) by BMI for 6’4". 180lb is in the lower half of healthy for that height.

BMI doesn’t work well on an individual level, though it misses in the other direction more often (overfat but not overweight is more common than overweight and lean).

Yeah and I am around 200 lbs which makes look more healthy than the 150lbs that bmi thinks I should be at.

150lbs for your height is underweight, 200lbs put you on the top of the healthy range.

So yeah, according to BMI you should look healthier at 200lbs rather than 150lbs

People have different builds, and women in particular can have healthy bodies with more (or less) fat depending on how they carry it. Also if you lift you can gain weight but not get bigger, just denser. I really only trust the waist to height measure, and it’s easy to actually measure.

I think you look good but it’s your body, get it into the shape you like!

Losing weight is easy in comparison with maintaining one’s weightloss.

Exercise helps with maintenance better than dieting does. A mixture of cardio and strength training exercises is a good start. I do hiking or cycling for cardio and mostly bodyweight fitness for strength training.

For slow but steady weight loss you might want to look at what your sources of calories are and find something you can live without. Alcohol also has calories! I ditched alcohol two months ago and I am currently trying to give up on carbonated beverages too. Some of Starbucks style coffees also have crazy amounts of calories.

In regards to food, it is better to eat proper meals when you can and avoid snacking rather than trying to starve yourself because it makes one vulnerable to temptation to raid one’s snack cabinet later in the day.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks. I’ll try to add in some more cardio. I usually walk/run two miles every day, or every other day. I don’t drink very often. The last time I drank was over a year ago. I also don’t drink caffeine, or soda.

You sound like you’re in great shape! Good for you!

Lol no I am not. I am 182 cm (almost 6 feet) and 115 kg (254 lbs). I lost about 5 kilos (11 lbs) this month, but my weight loss journey is still far ahead of me.
